Does anyone know if there are continuing scholarships for those doing an undergrad major in Keck? (Health Promotion, Global Health)

eartheyes,
It is my understanding this is the only undergraduate major within the USC Keck School of Medicine. Please contact the financial aid office as staff members will be more qualified to answer this question:

Reposted for new students. Check with individual schools as some of these are open for students who have only been at SC one semester.

Hi everyone. How much are these scholarships? Are they a couple of thousand dollars, or significant ones ($10,000+)? Thank you!

Some of these are significant. Check with the individual school for amounts.

Casthighlight, the specific $$ numbers are not published for most (any) departments so it’s hard to say. You can try calling the School/major of choice and asking. As a guess, I’d say most continuing scholarships are under $10K. Another thing to keep in mind, merit aid will be subtracted, in most cases, from need-based grants. If a student is already getting $10K in university grants based on financial aid calculations, and that student wins a merit award of $10K, it will likely cancel out the F/A grant completely, to my understanding.

Of course, alamemom will know best.

mabean is completely correct!

This thread is extremely helpful. Question - does that become a disincentive for students to compete for them? I do know that my own college stopped that policy because students stopped competing for outside scholarships. I do know that my D is looking into applying for SCA scholarships next spring because our COA is quite high. Wondered if SCA scholarships also result in a reduction in the university grant.

Does USC take the same position if a continuing student receives a scholarship from an outside source?

Arts and Letters,

Some of these have monetary benefits as well as prestige. I am thinking of the Jack Nicholson Awards in SDA and the Dean Ellis Scholarship in Marshall. Dramatic arts students may know for certain, but I think those awards are substantial.

You might want to PM alamemom as she is very helpful with questions regarding financial aid.
