We didn’t apply for aid, just the scholarships. So far we just have the Volunteer Scholarship . No word on Honors College.

Hi Kayla, do you mind sharing your ACT score that qualified you for this scholarship? My daughter needs to get her score up, but they won’t say how high! And congratulations to you!

Riverviewmom116, I do not mind at all. My ACT score is 30.

Thank you Kayla. That gives us hope!

Okay guys, the email I got back in December indicated that they would be reviewing applications for the Chancellor Scholarship sometime in January. Seems like a lot of schools are sending their offers next week - Maybe UT will be one. Lets hope we all get an email or letter soon. Good Luck everyone.

@Galaxyfigment Do you know if everyone received that email. I received an email telling me my application was complete but not an email about scholarships. Does anyone know if Haslam finalists have been announced? The lady I called at UT said they were sent out several weeks ago, but I thought they were typically announced later. Also, I haven’t received a Volunteer scholarship. I’m sure I’m panicking for no reason; I was just expecting some confirmation by now.

I don’t think the Haslam finalist are notified until late January. The institutional scholarship (Volunteer and University scholarships) notifications were mailed in late Dec. You could call and ask about that one. That way there will be no worry. Last year, it seems some winners of Volunteer were not notified until later based on post here on the CC. And sometime mail will get delivered to the wrong house - even mailmen make mistakes. Another school offered S a scholarship and we never got the letter. It was an automatic scholarship, so we knew he got the scholarship. I called and they re-mailed the letter. (We don’t want to go there, but the offer is a little hard to pass up). Come on UT with the Chancellor Scholarship.

The scholarship email I received seemed to be a generic one. I got it back in early Dec. I don’t think it was targeted to a certain crowd, just a mass mailing to those who applied for scholarships - you can tell on VIP (If that is where you applied) if your scholarship app was successfully. Good luck and keep us in the loop.

Thanks so much! I was starting to get worried. I think the admissions lady I talked to was either misinformed or just tired of people asking the same questions.

So far I have managed to get: expected Pell Grant, TSAC, Hope, Promise, most likely Pledge, and an inside scholarship of $6,000/year.

I luckily attend one of the eligible at-risk Tennessee schools for the Promise scholarship. My mother makes nowhere near an adjusted gross income of $40,000, so that will cover everything for me and provide me with a book allowance. Hopefully I can use my left over money to attend summer school and get a nice refund check.

0 debt; computer engineering major (hopefully get into Honors college)

Excited.

According to the Scholarship office - all University and Chancellor scholarship winners and Haslam semifinalist have been notified via mail. There may be department scholarships remaining. Looks like we will just receive the Volunteer scholarship. Hope everyone else fared better.

That is too bad. I hope you and your son are not too disappointed.

My daughter got an email today informing her she did not get Chancellors so I thought I would let others know that emails have been sent. In case anyone wonders, her stats are

32 ACT/2120 SAT
3.97 unweighted GPA

She was awarded the volunteer scholarship for $6000/year but I think she is going to pass on UT. Hopefully her volunteer scholarship will be passed on to someone else. :)

Best of luck everyone!

My son also received his “so sorry” letter too. He had a 34 ACT and a 4.27 UT calculated GPA - tons of Extracurricular and Leadership experience. - Eagle Scout,
Assistant Manager at his summer job, and lead roles in school plays.

Do you all think that maybe they give preference to out of state students for the Chancellors Scholarships? Just wondering because your children’s stats are so incredible that I cannot imagine the recipients of these awards have better stats.
Just a thought.
Again I am sorry for you both – my brother is at UT now and he loves it. I am hoping to go there, but I don’t have a lot of hope about these scholarships. I wonder if they may not be a waste of time.

I got the letter today that I was accepted into the chancellor’s honors program :)

My S got his honors program acceptance too.

Smokymtngirl - i think it just tells you how tough the competition is. No one should beat themselves up for not getting it. A lot of qualified students applied.

I just got got accepted into the honors program, but I still haven’t received nay kind of scholarship. Is this normal?

I was accepted to the Honors Program and I got the Out of State Excellence Scholarship ($10,000/year) but nothing other than that. I’m still hoping for some departmental scholarships or something.

HopesOfIvy - have you called and asked about the scholarships? I would expect that if you are accepted to the honors program, then you would have gotten something. Call them and ask.

I have not called yet, but I definitely will if I don’t hear in the next couple of days. I need some good scholarships and was really hoping I would get some.
