Accepted, of course. The point of the scholarships is to persuade people to matriculate that might otherwise not.

I couldn't agree with you more drummerdude. Ever since I got the scholarship I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out which college I should attend. Guess the tactic was effective :).

have any EAers heard yet??????

robbyg i'm waiting for notification in stuttgart... keep hoping.

I want to apologize to MovieBuff for being so smarmy. There was no excuse for it. Sorry.

Robbyg: Applied EA to Chicago, got the 1/3 scholarship today :) Good luck!

i envy you pandora. I got in EA and have to wait here in Lubbock, TX for notification. I think they should notify us losers so that we don't feel the need to watch for the mailman in the window.

I haven't posted on this board in forever since I committed to Rice about two weeks ago and turned down Chicago... but since everyone is wanting timing I received a $10,000 / year award today. I'm heartbroken... :'( I still can't afford Chicago even with the finaid grants, but I guess there's always grad school. By the way I'm from AL so the letters have already reached the southeast.

My son received his University Honor Scholarship today in Michigan. He was an EA admit.

Graymatter - give it another day or two before you give up.

MovieBuff - congrats on Brown - I think that will work out great!

SBDad, was it mailed UPS? if so can you check the Shipment Reference Number on the package? i'd like to see if there's one coming to me. i'm international and sick of waiting :)

I got the University Scholarship today, EA South Carolina. I thought I was going to go to Georgetown, but now I might have to take a second look at Chicago!

SBDad, I read your thread over on the parents' forum, and I was wondering whether you were speaking about the U of C. Did he get the full tuition scholarship? Regardless, I'm sure he will do very well at the U of C or UMich. Congratulations. You should be very proud.

I was an EA admit and got my $10,000/year University scholarship today... now I can go! YES!
I'm in Washington State, so mail seems to have made it to the West Coast region by now, or at least it did for me.

My son received the University Scholars award today, for 10K/year. Chriscap, it was mailed first class.

On the one hand, he is flattered. On the other hand, he has a merit award from Vanderbilt worth about 40K/year. That is a big difference. He really would prefer UChicago, but he has some thinking to do.

Congratulations, Gracello. I am so happy that the scholarship will allow you to attend. That's really wonderful.

Your son has two excellent options, Midmo. Will be able to do accepted student events or visits to either school? Regardless, he cannot go wrong.

Congratulations to everyone else who has gotten notice of scholarships. For those who didn't, just know that choosing scholarship recipients is an organic process, and not getting one certainly does not reflect anything on you as an applicant or future student in the least. You have been accepted to a fantastic, world-class institution--you should be very proud already.

I'm a little curious, what happens to the scholarships that are offered to people who decide not to attend UChi? Are they passed on to other people or does the money just not get used?

Corranged, he will probably do accepted student events at both schools in about 2 weeks. Yes, he is fortunate to have some very good options.

that's my question, too, acidalice. I wouldn't mind some hand-me-down scholarships!! Sounds like a lot of the people who get them end up going somewhere else. Whereas I can't go at all because my EFC is over $30k a year.

Yes, first class mail.
