Scholarships?

Depends on how many years you're planning on going for. For me I'm shooting for physician. That's 8 years of school.

UT's 76k + (35k x 4 for Med) = $216,000 of debt !!!!

Whereas if I go to UTD, it will only be 120k, assuming med school costs that much per year and I get in . . but let's not think about that.

hmm if you can take that amount of debt, perhaps I can take less than 1/2 that lol

If your future profession pays off a lot then it shouldn't be anything to you. You just have to live poorly the first couple years? Then it's good going from then on.

so has anyone's Cas$h website updated with any scholarships?

I think that if your loans = out to how much they expect you to pay for one year then that means you will not be getting a scholarship.

so other than tracie, no one else got anything :O

i havent got my financial aid package though

You'll get that, there's not much worrying there. For the rest of us that didn't get any scholarships, this blows. (well that's if you're going to UT, if you have to decide by May 1st then that sucks for you as well).

19k in Loans is like pretty much a slap in the face right?

well it depends on your efc, and you're in-state right?? i'm a resident, efc 3750 so i dont know

I got a small grant and the rest loans and I was out-of-state with 7944 EFC.

So how much is coming out of your pocket hookem?

I don't think I'm going lol, even if I took a loan for the rest of the amount I would still need money for other things I planned to do, like fraternity dues wouldn't have been factored into the cost of attendance.

so you're going to Ohio State?

yea i'm 90% sure

I thought you were really excited about UT. What happened? Is it because of the money?

yea pretty much.

Which school is better for your major? (I'm pretty much in the same situation you are).

Texas (even though I don't really know what I want to do.)
In business and pharmacy

In political science/government, I'm not sure

Well if you're going to make a lot of money when you get out then don't let money hold you back. A lot of people around me have been telling me to go for the experience and the better education. I might do pharmacy (UT's ranked 2nd in the nation so it would definitely be a better education there). My other school choices won't really give me much of an experience but I think Ohio State can do that for you. I don't know. 80k may be a lot to me now, but if I strive hard enough in whatever I'm doing, then I won't have any problems paying it off. I don't think you should let money be too much of a factor in your decision. You might regret it later when you're rich and knew you could have gotten a better experience at a better school.
