I entered art, and I don’t take art class. I just know the art teacher well enough that she signed it for me.

I just attended our awards closing ealier today.
I recieved an American Visons Award Nominee on [Tape Shoe on Flickr - Photo Sharing!](http://■■■■■■■■■■/photos/brianm02/3146777722/)

And a Cetificate on a cross hatching of a statue.

I still haven’t heard anything – hopefully that doesn’t mean I didnt get any award!

the regional museum that you sumbitted your piece to should have a gallery showing of all the pieces…

Just wondering, is there any additional benefit to winning a gold key for a portfolio? Like any scholarships?

esgee- yes if you win a gold key for a portfolio in the National division and are a senior you may win scholarship money.

^Cool, thanks!

^There is a difference between a Gold Key and a Gold Award, though. Gold Keys are regional while Gold Awards are national. Gold Award winners receive a scholarship from Scholastic (I think it’s $10,000?) but there are only four or five of them out of all of the entries.

I got an American Visions Award Nominee. Do you know how many from all nominees are chosen at NYC?

Entering for novel and just finishing it up. I doubt I’ll get any kind of recognition, but it’s been fun to write. =)

my teacher got a letter from scholastic today-- apparently i won a gold key for WRAL for a short story and for my fiction portfolio.

other RAL writers-- check with your teachers to see if theyve gotten anything. I haven’t received anything in the mail just yet from scholastic, but I guess they’re sending stuff out to the teachers right now??

Good luck to all of you

^Congrats! Yeah, that’s how I remember it happening. My teacher got her packet before I got mine.

ahh ca- CONGRATULATIONS! i also entered into the WRAL but haven’t heard anything yet. i’m getting a little nervous about it… :(

i entered a general writing portfolio, an essay, a collection of poetry, and two short stories.

hopefully texas just gets mail later? maybe?

anyone else out there recognized for the WRAL?

I’m from WRAL and apparently I won something for screenplay… though my teacher didn’t tell me what I got… he wants me to be “surprised” when I get the mail… do they only contact teachers for gold key or for everything? (silver key, honorable mention, etc.)

Congrats on your WRAL notifications, everyone!

Still working on that novel. Having a hard time deciding on a stopping point. My limit is 50 pages, but I may have to move some chapters around in my outline to make a better impact on judges. I don’t know. It’s bothering me.

congrats CA and vanillasky. wow, your teachers got notified rather quickly;i heard notifications usually arrived mid march or so.

hey guys, congrats to all! still waiting.

My D did this all on her own, and our district had never even heard of it. So she didn’t have a teacher to help her. She did put one down though–hope the teacher contacts her if they hear anything.

@vanillasky: Many teachers do Scholastic as a class project, and have dozens of students who enter, so they each get a list of the results of all of their students combined, including silver keys, etc.

RAL (Long Island) teachers are getting notification now, but in the letter it says that students won’t get notification until “late March”.
Also, weird, I think they might have put my submission in a different category for me.
Congrats to everybody!
