@HopeTsai
Yeah, I applied to some of the programs, but this is the first time I’m applying through SAS too!
And samee! My poetry is being submitted but I’m really only interested in fiction. I checked interest in both novel writing and poetry (secondary).
@AlmightySadist Awesome!! Wait, do you have the same problem with the blank/loading website when saving the student questionnaire, or is that just me?
@HopeTsai
No, which made me think the whole blank page was a browser issue. Are you still having the problem?
Anyone in the Chicago area still waiting for results to come out?
@AlmightySadist Ah ok, I’ll try a different browser!
Oh and they replied back! Apparently, they only require 1 recent work, but you are allowed to submit up to five!
@cottoncandycake I’m not in the Chicago area, so I wouldn’t know, but good luck!
@HopeTsai
Oh okay! Thank you! That certainly cleared things up.
According to the list of names published, I received Honorable mentions and silver keys, but no gold keys, yet I just received an email telling me that both of my pieces of artwork have won gold keys? I saw this happened to someone else on this thread, is this a mistake? Did everyone get this email or did I actually win?
@aksmao32 Wow, that is strange. What region are you in? Every year, they always post a list of all the regional gold key winners (last year on February 8th), so when they do that, that should clear up any confusion. Congrats though!
@AlmightySadist I did try a different browser, but it did the same thing. What browser do you use?
@HopeTsai
I use Chrome. If you use that, what about Mozilla?
@AlmightySadist Hey, I use that too! The parent questionnaire worked out fine, but maybe I need to upload my work and photo (the section before the student questionnaire) before I save the student questionnaire?
EDIT: Maybe it’s the wordcount! I pasted in one paragraph at a time, and once it hit the third one, it started showing the blank page. Before that, however, it saved normally!
@HopeTsai
That might be it! I haven’t went over the word count yet so I can’t confirm…
@AlmightySadist Yayy, it works now!
@HopeTsai
Yay! I’m happy! What kind of writing stuff did you apply for?
@AlmightySadist
I applied to all of the genres xD, and to Iowa, Kenyon, and Stonybrook YAWP! I’m taking my profile picture tomorrow, and revising the second and last recent work that I’m gonna submit, and then I’ll be done! I’m also applying to WashU at St. Louis’s creative writing program and Smith College’s Young Women’s writing workshop. I hope I make it to one and can afford it!! What about you?? It would be so awesome if I got to meet you hahaha.
@HopeTsai
I’m applying to Iowa, Juniper, and I think the Writer’s Circle in NY or the one program in NJ. I live in rural Northern Va. so those are the close ones. Genres… I think maybe novel writing, poetry, and memoir? I haven’t decided because fiction is my real expertise but I didn’t submit any. I guess cause I don’t have any new/relevant pieces.
@HopeTsai
But I’d love to meet you! Maybe in Iowa or Kenyon (I haven’t fully decided where) if we get lucky!
@AlmightySadist Hopefully! I really wanted to go to Juniper, but I’ve got my last exam on June 25, so I wouldn’t be able to make it. The anxiety levels are up and pinging though ahhh
@HopeTsai
Don’t sweat it. They might not accept because they think you might not benefit from the program! Or, accept you because you’re great!
I’ve already been rejected from one so I’m pretty sure it’ll happen again. But! I try not to let that deter me. I mean, hey! I won an award for a piece I originally submitted to them. XD
@AlmightySadist Thanks for the tip! xD It’s my first time applying to summer programs that can reject me, so it’s a whole new ballgame!
