Did anyone who has received a decision get an email about scholarship information right before they received a decision email?
I got a scholarship email mid-november and still haven’t heard.
Received the scholarship email this afternoon in CA. Waiting for a decision from admissions. Applied in October.
Acceoted tonight after receiving scholarship email this afternoon
Same here got the scholarship email in the afternoon, got accepted in the evening :)>- I don;'t see a pattern but I felt like hey would they really send out scholarship email to all 20,000 + applicants. Made me feel better that they wouldn’t say here is the info, then later notify my and say sorry no admittance.
Can I clarify which scholarship email are we discussing? @jcpenny96
What was in the scholarship email?
The scholarship email we received stated:
The College of Letters & Science is happy to announce that the
Freshmen Scholarships Application is now available for interested high
school seniors for awards for the 2015-2016 academic year. To access
the application please log-in to
https://scholarships.wisc.edu/StudentApp. Application instructions are
available on our website located at
http://www.lssaa.wisc.edu/scholarships. The deadline for submission is
February 3, 2015, including receipt of the recommendation. The
UW-Madison admissions process is completely independent of the Letters
and Science scholarship process. This letter does not contain any
admission information regarding your admissions application status.
Exemplary applicants will demonstrate academic achievement; for
incoming freshman this typically means that students rank at the top
of their graduating class and/or have a 4.0 grade point average on a
4.0 scale, have ACT scores of at least 31 and/or SAT scores of at
least 2100, they will submit well-written scholarship application
essays and procure an excellent recommendation.
In addition to academic merit, scholarships are awarded upon
demonstration of strength in at least two of the following areas:
creative accomplishment, financial need, diversity of background,
unusual force of character, community service, and leadership.

Applicants are notified of decisions in April. Awards are offered by
phone and through email. Scholarships payments to the student account
begin in Fall 2015. The Office of Student Financial Aid may make
adjustments to aid packages based on scholarship awards. Scholarship
awards and payments are contingent on full-time enrollment in the
College of Letters and Science. Please note that some scholarships are
one-time awards only; and some scholarship funds are ongoing four year
awards. Student recipients must remain in good standing and be working
toward earning a Letters and Science degree and achieve a minimum
grade point average as determined by the particular scholarship
awarded. Most scholarships are distributed to Wisconsin residents.
(Last year fewer than fifteen scholarships were awarded to
out-of-state student freshmen).
Please review the Scholarships @ UW-Madison website for more
information. If you still have questions email Alison Rice at the
College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Scholarship Office,
scholarships@saa.ls.wisc.edu.
Although scholarship funding is very limited, attending UW-Madison is
a bargain with incredible opportunities for motivated students like
you. We are so excited that you are considering UW-Madison!

Thank you. @beatstanford I got one for the College of Ag and Life Sciences in mid-November. I still have not gotten a decision.
I don’t know if the scholarship email is linked to the admissions decision or not. It seems to be for some people. As I mentioned, we received the email Friday afternoon and the admission decision about five hours later.
I never received a scholarship email, but I was admitted Friday at 8:30pm
Im not saying they are connected, but I was accepted back in November and received the scholarship email like 6 hours before I got the decision email.
@wisconsin13 did you have an ACT 31 score or higher, or a 2100 SAT or higher, or is your intended major in L&S?
@Madison85 yes my ACT is higher than 31, but my intended major is not in L&S.
