School forms release authorization

just trying to make sure im understanding the release authorization right before i invite my teachers/counselor

so if i press Yes,i wont be able to see what my teachers/counselor sent in
and
if no, i can see it later on

cause i might be applying to colleges where the common app isn't used and i do not want to ask my teachers again for a recommendation letter

You can’t take the Common App recommendation letter, and send it in yourself to another school. The person writing the recommendation can, but not you.

The purpose behind waiving the right to see letter is that it gives the person writing the recommendation more freedom to be candid.

If they know you can see it, they may not be as honest, and the schools know that.

so if im applying to a school that does not use the common app …
i should ask my teachers for 2 letter of recommendations?

No , you just give the teacher a stamped, addressed envelope if you want him/her to snail mail it to a non- Common App school. You do the Common App invitation thing for the common app colleges. It is the same one letter that the one teacher writes, whether it is sent electronically or on paper via snail mail.

The non-common app school will have their form. Give it to the teacher, along with a stamped addressed envelope to the school.
