School of Engineering likely admission letters

Has anyone received a likely admission letter expressing interest for the school of Engineering?

have you? 10 char

if so, what did it say

The only e-mail recently received concerned financial aid.

Did you hear that they are sending likely letters to engineering students, or just guessing?

My daughter received a likely letter last year. One motivation for Cornell is to encourage candidates to schedule the weekend of April 12th for the Society of Women Engineers candidate event. They are having that again this year since they are looking for host students. I gather that few of the admitted students get the likely letter, lack of the letter does not mean you are not admitted.

One lesson we've learned about Cornell - make your hotel reservations early!

The likely letter was received March 19th last year, for those wondering, from the school of engineering. In my opinion, it was mainly a heads up letting us know about the SWE events on the Fri/Sat of the April 12th weekend.

Do only women get the likely letters? You keep mentioning SWE so im just curious.

I don't know the criteria for likely letters. The SWE activities conflict with RPI's accepted students day and MIT's admitted students weekend, so they may send to help swing students in their favor. The Cornell Days are more spread out so the conflict is not so extreme.

I got a likely letter last year from Engineering and I'm (white) male. It came on March 19th, just like the SWE ones... I think they send them all out on the same day. There are SWE ones, and ones for the two scholarship programs (MacMullen and Jacobs scholars). Hope this helps!

I got accepted early decision this year but early in December (decision date was December 19th) I got a holiday card from Cornell saying relax and enjoy your break from school and happy holidays. I'm not sure that was a likely letter or anything but it was definitely nice and I don't know anyone else from my school that got one. What are the likely letters from SWE or the other scholarship programs like?

I know an applicant who got an engineering likely letter on 3/13. It was a well-timed notification!

I got one March 15 (dated March 12)

I’m a finalist for the John McMullen Dean’s Scholar Award, so I think that’s why I got it. I’m pretty sure only women, minorities, and finalists for the scholar award get likely letters.

And to save any questions about are they just for women or minorities, I’m a white guy from Indiana, I’m about as far from minority as you get.

Also, you’ll know if you get a likely letter. Mine said in bold print “you are very likely to be admitted into Cornell University’s College of Engineering,” not too much confusion there.

what he said except for with me too, and I’m an asian male.

I got a likely letter on the 13th. I’m a white female and it was mostly to tell me about the SWE weekend. Mine had the same, “you will very likely be accepted to Cornell”.
