Is this report necessory? Is it too late to send it now?(after Jan 1)

According to the website, its necessary. However, I believe applicants are accepted that did not turn this report in.
To answer your first question haha

Thanks Madshock! Somebody else?

It’s not necessary, especially if your SSR is filled out properly. A lot of counselors just do the bare minimum, which is why SRII exists.

Yeah I just found out about this today and had a mini heart attack.

Apparently, it’s not compulsory, but filling it out won’t hurt. And yes, I think it’s fine to send it in late, especially if it’s only by a day or two :)

It is not necessary. I’m not going to send it in… my counselor anyway has too many kids on her plate to deal with

Some posts on CC say it is not required. Others say that it is. One post references a phone call to the admissions office saying it was required. A fair amount of confusion over this form.

Can’t help but wonder how many applicants using the Common App don’t know about the School Report Part II form.

^I imagine many do not; I only found out through CC.

I called Harvard Admissions (617-495-1551) and got voice mail. I’ll be away from a phone for the rest of the day but if someone else has a chance maybe they will call and let us know what they find out.

I’m curious to see what the answer is, since I have never heard of this until now. lol

Regardless, if you haven’t sent it, fear not. I didn’t, even though I knew about it, and was still accepted. Cool beans.

Yeah, same here. If this form was also required last year, I definitely didn’t fill it out either.

It really was a really redundant form, so I can’t imagine that not submitting it would result in someone getting rejected because of it

lol. Irony, anyone?

I noticed that too, haha.

Is this filed at the end of the year? i.e. after second semester?

The following is on the Part II form -

“Please return this form by January 1.”

Should I email Harvard about this explaining the situation (I didn’t know it existed until now and I’m still not sure if it is optional or not) and asking if I should have my counselor fill it out?

Or should I just give it to my counselor to fill out and send in ASAP?

Either way it’s late, though. Will that penalize me?

Why not call? Probably get’s the fastest answer.

From the Harvard website -

Phone:
617-495-1551. Give us a call! There will be someone you can speak with from 9am-5pm EST Monday-Friday.
