Schools offering merit based scholarships/aid to transfer students?

Hello everyone,

Is there a list or thread someone can point me to which discusses which schools offer merit based scholarships to transfer students? If no such thread exists, can folks on this forum give me some pointers of which schools do offer such aid.

Reason I ask is that I am noticing many of the schools that do offer merit based aid to incoming freshmen do not seem to offer that to transfers.

Thanks in advance.

The reason almost all the merit money goes to new freshman is that only freshman stats are used for ranking colleges.

Make a list of the schools you are interested. Then go to the financial aid section of their website.

Compared to that, a freshman applicant could get a $9,000 scholarship last year for a high school GPA of 3.25 and SAT CR&M of 1250. Much more.

This year’s scholarship criteria are going to be updated in August I believe.

I believe that merit opportunities at most schools are better for freshmen than transfers. But some schools do give transfer scholarships, sometimes through CC to 4yr university articulation agreements, or for particular majors.

What do you need your net cost to be?

How much will your parents pay each year?

What is your home state? Maybe your state gives good need based aid to transfers…like in Calif for Calif publics.

What are your stats? Do you have the stats to get into top schools?

Do you have a state Univ that you can transfer to and commute from home?

Few schools give a lot of aid/merit to transfers. I know Cornell and USC give need based aid to transfers.

As said up thread, schools give the best aid to incoming frosh for ranking purposes.
