Hi, S is attending scholarship event on 2/7/10. From current students, how many kids show up at this competition, and what are "average" offer from the event? Has the 18,000 scholarship to date. Thanks!

My D got the invitation to this as well. I think that how scholarships are awarded were changed this year (so we were told), so I don’t know if what the average offer from last year was would pertain to this year.

There are 20 full tuition, 45 three-quarters tuition, and a handful of half-tuition scholarships availible (near the bottom of the financial aid section of their overview of Ohio Wesleyan).

I’d say that sounds about right, as the OWU site says their giving away $3 million in aid through these competitions, so that about adds up.

And last I heard, around 400 kids signed up for the event. I’m excited for it =]

D is interested in this school for next year. What does the “competition” entail?

My daughter’s attending this weekend’s competition (1/24-1/25). It’s her first scholarship competition, so she’s excited.

How many parents are planning to attend? They do have activities on the schedule for parents as well as the students. We live near Columbus, and it’s less than a half hour drive for us, so I’m thinking I’ll go along on Sunday morning and see how it goes. If I’m too much a spare wheel (or worse - boat anchor), I can easily head back home.

Good luck to all of your kids! My son is a senior here and loves it. He will be greeting scholarship kids at a reception Sunday night. They are dividing them up by potential majors. Anyway–lots of money to give away–hope you all get some.
