I am taking the September ACT and am aiming for a 33. My scores have always been fluctuating between a 29 and a 31 on practice tests (I got a 31 on the June test). I have done every test in Kaplan, red book and PR but my scores have not improved despite going over every test I take. It seems I always make different mistakes every time (especially on English) and it's beginning to be very frustrating.

I have the ACT for Dummies and Barron's left to do. Anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

Which section are you having the most trouble with?

English and Reading

Yeah, same here. English takes a lot of practice, but it is improvable. Reading section is a different ball game.

I used to have huge trouble with the English sections in both the ACT and SAT (got 21 in ACT 1st time, got 49 in PSAT first time). Luckily, Grammar is pretty much the easiest thing to improve on (at least that's what I would think). Read the grammar prep sections in an SAT book that lists out common rules (McGraw Hill had a good set of 10 rules to know in their SAT book, that really did the trick for me). Memorize those rules (it's not hard) and practice with tests so you can get used to identifying errors, and you'll be set.
