Throughout my college application journey, I have sent my SAT and Toefl scores just after submitting my application because there was always a chance that I make a last minute decision not to apply to that certain college. So I just submitted my application to UMich, and I just sent my Scores, but i also just realized that UMich specifically says that a complete Application is one that has all materials sent in by the deadline and they seem to be pretty strict about it on their website. Does that mean that my application will not be evaluated like the rest of the applications, or that they wont even look at my app? Should I call the office of admissions? But still I do not have a legitimate excuse. Any insight would be appreciated.
Call the office. Colleges download scores and each one has a different time to do so (some download every two weeks, some every one week, etc). Call to make sure they have received your scores or if it is too late.
Call the office ASAP. Also call the College Board and explain your situation to see if they can rush your scores. I know of a couple people who missed EA because of the deadlines and umich was pretty strict about it, but perhaps they might be more understanding for RD… They count things by the time they were sent in. So when I applied EA, they “downloaded” my scores on like November 3rd and 4th, but they saw that ACT sent them in on October 28 so they qualified me for EA. Hope everything goes well!
I just called and they said that my application will be evaluated on a space-available basis, so what the heck does that mean ? @fabes1998 Have I just been rejected ?
That isn’t a rejection. They are saying that if they have left over slots you’d be considered. But I would not worry too much. Consider the situation from the college’s standpoint. They have a bunch of applications that are all complete but some were missing some material by the deadline. They don’t want to convey to you that their deadline does not mean anything. At the same time, they want the best students. So if you are someone they want to accept and would have if they had everything by the deadline then they’d be shooting themselves in the foot, so to speak, to deny you on the basis of late scores. So stop worrying about it and follow-up with a letter of continued interest.
If you have previous score sent in, then it would be fine. If you don’t, it may be a problem as they are likely overwhelmed with application as previous years. Next time, make sure you read all the details ahead of time as there is no general rules on that. UMich does want everything by deadline to be considered a complete application.
also, I just called ACT, I requested my score to be sent monday, feb. 1, and they were actually able to send it the same day because U of M accepts test scores every monday wednesday and friday. I’m not sure if that would be the same for SAT, but maybe give them a call.
