Scott Hall?

I am an incoming freshmen and was assigned to Scott Hall in Ikenberry South for rooming. Can anyone give me any kind of information about it? How is the atmosphere, etc?

I lived there last year.

3rd floor is all guys, but it’s honestly way better than the other floors socially. Scott hall has most of the freshmen athletes, so there are a lot of girls volleyball players on the 2nd and 4th floors, and basketball players on the 3rd floor. It’s a very social environment, the RA’s are usually pretty chill. A significant portion of the residents go Greek. Most of them are guys, but girls (usually the hotter ones) go Greek as well. I didn’t join a fraternity, but I would recommend doing so because most of the people you meet will and it ends up sucking when they’re always doing their own frat stuff.

I loved living in the 6 pack. There’s a workout facility across the street (used to be called IMPE - it’s called something else now), and most of the people on my dorm floor were pretty friendly and sociable.

Also, there’s a ton of U of I athletes living in the 6 pack, so if you enjoy sports, it’s kind of cool being around people that are featured on ABC, ESPN, and the Big Ten Network.

^Agreed. FYI it’s called the ARC now. Scott is literally right across the street from it (closest building to it). The ARC is like new so it’s always great to go to.

that’s awesome you’re living in Scott. like other people said the freshmen athletes live there. it’s awesome. it’s also air conditioned. not all six pack dorms are.

What is Scott Hall like if you aren’t an athlete?

" What is Scott Hall like if you aren’t an athlete?"

Most of the people that live in the 6 pack aren’t athletes. There are all kinds of different people living in Scott and the rest of the 6 pack - future PhDs, guys that will play in the NFL someday, people from small towns in Illinois, people from Chicago, people that like to party, and people that won’t touch alcohol during their entire time on campus. Sure, some people in the 6 pack will party too much and flunk out, but there are also other people that will be on the Bronze Tablet when they graduate.
