Hey guys,
My CSU GPA is 3.95 and my ACT is 26 Cumulative.
I am out of state.
I have already taken like two honors classes and I am currently taking one AP class (if that matters). I’ve been editing the school newspaper for two years, participated in theatre & played sports for two years. I applied for Criminal Justice and I’m not sure what the acceptance rate is for that major.
Please let me know what to expect when regular decisions come out
SDSU is not using test scores for their admission decision this year. Your CSU GPA is at the average for admits in 2019 (2020 average admit GPA not posted). SDSU does not recognize out of state Honors courses, only AP and IB classes and HS course rigor is Very important in their application review. EC’s are not considered.
Criminal Justice had a 24% acceptance rate last year with 2249 applicants for 547 admits.
Here is what SDSU looks for in their Freshman applicants:
-
High School GPA
We consider the breadth and depth of your academic record, and encourage you to challenge yourself by taking a rigorous curriculum including Advanced Placement (AP), honors, and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes.
-
Preparation Towards Indicated Area of Study
You must choose a major when you apply to SDSU. All majors are competitive, and every major has more applicants than available spots (the CSU calls this impaction). While we look at all of the college-prep coursework you have taken during high school, we also consider your performance and the number of units taken in courses most relevant to predicted success in your intended academic discipline.
I would say probably a Match school if SDSU is affordable since you will be full pay at $42K which includes tuition/room/board/books/transportation.

Additional Factors
Special consideration is given to students who have overcome life obstacles, participated in college preparatory programs, and attend high schools within SDSU’s local admission area.
I took a Law and Justice class and I am currently taking Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice as a dual enrollment class at a local community college. Do you think this could boost my chances of getting into that major?
Thank you so much for that information.
Yes, those classes could definitely help. Best of luck.
