SDSU: Denied admission for Fall '08

So I was wondering who else got denied from sdsu and what was your gpa and your combined critical reading and math scores on the sat. I just got denied today with a 3.59 gpa and a 980 for the sat.

REJECTED!!!

3.5 GPA and 1100 SAT.

wow, my stats last year were around 3.5 and 1100. Looks like they are really cracking down, I read that they lowered the admittance because of limited space.

What major did you guys apply for?

I know business was impacted so I applied as math/business and then switched to business afterwards.

Hope you guys get into better schools. Sometimes I wish I wasn't here because it can be very frustrating especially if you are worried about your education.

They had 61,000 applications for 7,002 enrollment spots.

And I applied for business administration.

But yeah, I'm kind of upset, but I wasn't planning on attending.

I have already been accepted to Indiana University, Florida State, and the University of Portland.

here's what i found from sdsu.edu

"*UPDATE: Revised enrollment figures for Fall 2008 indicate SDSU will likely enroll 7,022 new undergraduate students, including 4,267 first-time freshmen and 2,765 new transfers. *

Last fall, incoming SDSU first time freshman had an average high-school GPA of 3.44.

San Diego State University received a record 61,492 undergraduate applications for fall 2008, the university announced today."

It's crazy how many people want to go here.

So are saying SDSU has been bad for you Caliguy? I am accepted to SDSU and was planning to attend but your comment worried me. I am concerned about my education and hoped SDSU would provide a good one. I got into Loyola Marymount which some may say is better then SDSU but I am not paying 50000 a year for it.

LMU is a very good school, it's unfortunate that tuition is so expensive. What did you plan to major in?

SDSU has been great and a nuisance. I am very active and involved on campus so from a non-academic stand point, I have learned a lot.

Academically, this school makes it hard for you to graduate on time. Depending on your major, I know many that graduate in 5 years rather than 4. Say you don't pass a class or was unable to register or get into a class you needed (too many students, little class availability in business department), you will be delayed. Academically, I have not learned one thing. Other things I dislike about SDSU: traffic/parking, administration doesn't really focus on students.

I've only been to SDSU so can't compare. Other than that, I do love it here. Fabulous city, great friends, and best times of my life (parties/social life). Some professors are really dedicated and willing to make the effort for your sake. I do not want to discourage you. I feel that SDSU is what you make out of it. I don't learn much in the class but rather outside. Some people don't mind partying and graduating in 5 years, but I am not one of those people. There are many scenes/crowd on campus, so just find your fit (I will warn that majority on campus focus on the partying/fun aspects of SDSU)

If i am truly dedicated and want to, is it likely I can graduate in 4 years? I am planning to do business. I just feel like spending 40,000+ a year at LMU is not worth it when I can spend half that and SDSU business school is still ranked highly.

Dedication is a big plus for graduating in 4 years. But it is not just that. The school is so impacted, it is hard to get classes that you want to get.

it is possible, if you are truly dedicated. there are many students that graduate in 4 years but majority do business in 5. if you want to get out in 4, you will because you will be determines. thats how i am, what i do is take summer school to get ahead of the curve.

there are times where you will not be able to get a class whether of timing or just unable to crash/no room. this past semester, i had to crash 3 courses that i needed. so what you have to do is be willing to take summer school or take a 15-18 units each semester so you don't start falling behind.

anything is possible if you are truly dedicated, but things come up. for instance, you might want to do something else instead of taking extra classes or summer school such as jobs and other activities. this semester i am taking a lighter load because i am involved with a couple clubs but i still plan on taking summer school.

definitely got rejected. i had a 3.24 and a 1660 overall on the sats. i am WAY bummed and cant get over it. sdsu was my top choice and all my plans just got totally screwed over.

Rejected 3.11

pwnd

anyone know the significance of the question on the bottom: check here if you want to be on the waitlist? what are the chances of getting in historically or this year?
thanks

anyone that is rejected can always appeal. chances are slim but it's worth a shot.

I didn't get rejected, I got waitlisted. (I think) Has anyone had experience with this at SDSU or any other of the California state universities?
Thanks.

My best friend was denied! 3.5 GPA and 1100 SAT. I am so sad and he is to.

If SDSU is your number one choice and you really do not want to give up the dream of attending, by all means, put yourself on the waiting list! There will be many who do not choose to go to SDSU, so there will be vacancies. Establish a contact in the admissions office and let them know who you are. (Have a second choice, too, of course.) So many of you appear to be very well qualified and would be an asset to the school. Good luck.

CaliGuy07 how can i appeal or at least be put on waiting list

i got accepted with a 3.2 GPA and 1300 SAT

*** i got rejected and i had a 3.2 gpa and 1700 sat and 25 act ...but then again im in state and i checked application on my sdsu and it said i was out of state..o well i shall appeal then like i dnt mind going here but it was kinda my saftey so being denied by saftey is really bugging the crap out of me also i applied for bio ( not one of the best majors at sdsu)
