SDSU or Cal Poly Pomona? Need Help Deadline Passed but I Still Have a Chance.

I applied for both colleges as an Aerospace engineering major. I really want to go in the topic of Astronautics and space engineering. I accepted the offer at SDSU but now I’m having second thoughts. I still have a chance to go to CPP but I need to decide soon. Money is not a factor for me because both turn out to be the same. Did i make a good decision choosing SDSU or should I choose CPP instead?

SDSU Advantages:
-Very very close to home
-Rooming with a friend
-Beautiful area
-Got into Honors program so I live at Zura hall (very nice dorms) and will have the opportunity to study abroad
-An area that always has something for me to do and have fun

SDSU Disadvantages:
-Has a decent Aerospace program but is more concentrated on Aeronautics not Astronautics
-Not many laboratories for studying aerospace
-Known for being a party school
-Not located in LA which is a big area for Aerospace

CPP Advantages:
-Great Aerospace Engineering program with classes focusing in astronautics
-Many Aerospace facilities and labs
-Very hands on
-Close to LA which is good for internships

CPP Disadvantages:
-No social life
-Middle of nowhere
-No friends around

CPP is not in the middle of nowhere. You are within 30 mins of attractions such as Disneyland, Beaches. 30-45 minutes to the San Gabriel Mountains. Have you even visited? As for social life, that is up to you. There is plenty to do on and off-campus if you make the effort.

Only you can decide what school is best for you.

I think the Weber’s Honor’s program is a big advantage in attending SDSU. LA does have a big aerospace industry, but there is nothing from keeping you in getting an summer internship in LA even if you attend SDSU.

As for the party school reputation at SDSU, any school can be a party school if you make an effort to seek out the parties. Some how many schools cannot shake their past reputations. SDSU is not the same school it was 20 years ago.

Do not try to second guess yourself. You made your decision for a reason so stick with it.

Go SDSU - plenty close to LA. Get the most from your program, internships, and have fun.
