Seen any good movies lately?

Just finished watching East of the Mountains. Available on Amazon Prime. Beautiful scenery of Eastern Washington. Great cinematography. I dare you not to cry.

On the recommendation of our middle son, we watched “Vanilla Skies” with Tom Cruise last night. That’s the second movie we’ve watched recently on his recommendation. Let’s just say I think it will be the last!

I was gonna say…I did not like that movie.

Watched “We’re the Millers” on Netflix. Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. You can see the Ted Lasso shining through.

It’s come up in this thread before but our musician kid made us watch The Menu last night. It’s not about food so much as the complex relationships between the producers and consumers of art. I would not normally have watched a movie like this but it was fascinating.

If you enjoyed The Menu, you might also like Hunger (Thai movie on Netflix).

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was incredible (currently in theaters). It probably won’t stay this high, and I am not endorsing these rankings at all, but it is currently a 9.0 on IMDB, which you just do not see very often (only five movies all time have a rating that high).

I was blown away and I think moviegoers and critics feel similarly (thus that rating). The film really does feel like it changes and expands what motion pictures (as art) can be.

It might be too much to say that I liked it but it was really well done and interesting. I’ll look up The Hunger.

I think it’s just Hunger.

IIRC The Hunger is a David Bowie vampire movie.

We thoroughly enjoyed “Living.” A very moving film with beautiful music. We liked the slow pace, too.

Yes, that music was beautiful!
Bill Nighy was terrific.

Fun movie is “The Secret of My Success” with Michael J. Fox.

I loved it.

We finally saw Banshees of Insherin tonight. Grim story. Great scenery but not enough to make me like the movie. I feel like I need a study guide.

movie info - INCLUDES SPOILERS.

Still confused and not a fan. (But… not totally sorry I watched it - have heard about if often)

I found Banshees fascinating and very good. But hard to watch. We were sitting on a Virgin Atlantic flight over the ocean, my husband was watching it with his noise canceling headset, and you know how sometimes you don’t realize how loud you are talking with those on? He yells out, “You dumb ….” as loud can be. It was really embarrassing, but I get it, that movie will make you want to yell that.

Been there, done that!

I’m assuming that you were sitting next to the guy shouting, Bunsen would never be so crass.

There is speculation that Banshee crazy friend relationship is symbolic of the Civil War on the mainland. That’s just too sophisticated for me.

Was on an American flight yesterday looking for something mindless to watch. Queued up Magic Mike’s Last Dance and quickly shut it down so the person next to me didn’t think I was watching porn! :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: (This was from AA’s inflight entertainment!)
