Select courses as a freshman - Does the student have to arrive earlier at the campus?

How does a Dartmouth freshman select courses in the fall? Will arriving at campus earlier help? Can everyone get the courses he(she) wants?

No, all course selections for freshmen are done during orientation and the process is done on line (so yes by the time they register all of the upperclassmen will have already registered).

Arriving earlier won't help. All freshmen arrive the same time for an extended orientation program. You have to meet with an advisor before you can even register on line. However you can and should look at course offerings on line to get an idea of what you are interested in.

Well, you dont HAVE to meet with an adviser, its more of a strong suggestion. and course selection isnt first-come, first-serve, so theres no advantage in choosing early.

No, actually, you are required to meet with your adviser before you can select your classes your first term.
