has anyone gotten rejected? it seems every single person on here got in

also, my school went 19/19 for students who applied to UR, which is unheard of at other schools... i thought rochester was a selective school

Haha.. I had this question b4!!

Please see one of my other threads:
UR is a selective school, but because so many Ivy Leaguers use UR as a saftey, admissions admits A LOT of students (close to half). With only a 20% yield, they have to admit a lot of students if they want to fill their freshmen class

actually, I'm quite confused about the definition of admit rates. Does it mean even a student isn't up to their standards, but because they have to be sure the class is full, they will admit him/her anyway?

yea my school seems the same way! past classes almost everyone who applied got accepted, but i heard it was really selective school too.

yah...its a really complicated thing - but its very reassuring to hear from nearly EVERYONE that UR is a great place to be. I haven't heard a single person have a single bad thing to say about the University of Rochester (people've been asking me where i plan on going and whenever i say UR - they get really impressed and all). And yet I haven't heard a single rejection yet...and with a 49% acceptance rate - wow lol.

lol.. but if u look around CC, u find that an overwhleming majority is in the top 50% of applicants, so it's hardly surprising.

yeah the sat average is a 1350 on princeton review

though at my school, anyone on honor roll + 1200 minimum virtually is guaranteed to get in

Well also, it's really intimidating to post about getting deferred or rejected when it seems like evvveryone else on the forum got in. I posted when I got deferred ED from Vassar and I was the ONLY one...and Vassar is more selective than UR. Trust me, it feels crappy.

I would definitely post after that experience because I know how it feels to be the only one, but I can totally understand why someone wouldn't. Also, some people find the forum after they get in so that they can talk to other students.

u know, i was just at the WUSTL board, looking at their decision threads. for the first 6 pages (out of 9), there was nothing but acceptances. then, on page 6 the first negative decision came, and after that, every third post was negative.

in other words, ppl will only post negative news once they aren't the first ones. it takes someone courageous to post the first one, and it doesn't happen for a long time.

The current president of UR came from WUSTL
