Self-Study and AP Credit

I have been looking through and searching this forum for awhile now, and I simply cannot find an answer to what I thought may be a common question. Please don't be too hostile if the answer has been right in front of me the whole time!
Last year I took the AP Physics B course at school, earning a 5 on the exam. This year, my school only offers the Mechanics portion of AP Physics C, so I plan to self-study E&M. I know that anyone can take the test, but my question is will I get credit for the exam if I haven't taken an online course or anything else? Perhaps I heard incorrectly, but one of my friends had told me that if you do not have a class to back up your studies, even if you get a 5 on the AP that credit may not count. I am just wondering if that is true, or if it varies because it might be college specific?

you'll still get credit if you get a 3 or above even if you never took a class

All that matters is the score for colleges.

I'm 99.9% sure that whether or not you took the actual class doesn't matter as long as you have proved your proficiency in the subject by doing well on the exam. But you never know, some college out there may have weird policies.

im pretty sure it doesnt matter. that why some people elect to self study ap's cuz the classes are not offered at their schools. im in the same situation as you in terms of physics. lol.

it doesn't matter if you didn't take a class. and a hint - most colleges won't give you credit anyway, even if you get a 5. they'll probably just place you in a higher course.
