Might be late but I want to self study maybe one or two APs. I’m currently a sophomore who is in AP World History. I was considering AP Macro and Micro since I’m interested in majoring in Economics and I heard those aren’t that hard? I was planning on actually taking the courses but at my school they’re only online which I wouldn’t like and I don’t want to waste my already preciously limited amount of periods on it. Thoughts?
If you will really have the time, I think you can pull it off. You just have to plan your time very carefully, and study persistently. After all you do have almost 4 more months until the AP’s. If you use that time well, I believe you can pull it off, especially since you are interested in the subject.
Do you think I could handle both Micro and Macro? Or should I choose one?
It’s really up to what you feel you can handle. The two AP’s do have like 30% overlap.
You could also consider taking the CLEP Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics exams. Of course, not all colleges/universities grant credit for the CLEP exams, but if you have a good idea of where you might be applying it might be worth it to check out their policy. CLEP exams can be taken throughout the year (not just in May like the APs) and you know your results immediately since the test is all multiple-choice. Just something to consider…
CLEP is waaaay easier than AP; I passed the practices for both histories and the government on my first try. You don’t get high school credit for it and it doesn’t boost your GPA though
Other than the fact it cots $80 I’m not really sure how it works at this point, although I’m loving the practice exams.
