Self-Studying APs: Improving Your App

For anyone planning to self-study AP Art History - there are certain torrents floating around with incredibly helpful study programs.

Which materials are best to use for self-studying Economics (Micro and Macro).

5 Steps to a 5 was AWESOME for Micro/Macro. I would say that and youtube videos will get you all set.

[YouTube - gewalker72’s Channel](http://www.youtube.com/user/gewalker72)
^^this channel will teach you everything you need to know. The vids are boring, but you will know how to graph perfectly

Is this doable?

Juinor Year Plan:
AP Eng Lang: class
AP Chem: class
APUSH: class
AP Comp Sci: self
AP Psych: self, online community college course over summer
AP Stat: self

Senior Year Plan
AP Eng Lit: class
AP US Gov: class
AP Physics C Mechanics: class
AP Calc AB: class
AP Calc BC: self ^I heard they go hand in hand
AP Human Geo: self
AP Enviro: self

Not if you want to have a life or other classes as well.

Is this doable sophomore year?

AP World History (class)
AP Spanish (class)
AP Human Geography
AP Environmental Science
AP Psychology

^ Yes. Your self-studies are easier APs. My friend self-studied Chem, Enviro, and Psych as a sophomore this year. Then again, she didn’t have many extracurriculars…

Hi! I had posted another thread about this and had gotten positive comments about it but this thread seems a little more critical so just thought I’d try it out here. Thanks!

Junior year:
Classes:
Bio
Euro

Self:
Pysch
Lang
Environ Sci.
Comp Gov
World history
US Gov
Physics B (w/ advanced course)

I don’t think that is very realistic, 7 ap self studies along with Bio and Euro. You know yourself best though.

I don’t believe that you are enabled to take both tests in one year.

^ I’m pretty sure you are. I know people who have done it before.

^ Really? I agree with wartsandall bc i read that in the AP bulletin

[AP Calendar ?AP Exam Dates](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>AP Calendar - AP Students - College Board)

I don’t believe that you are enabled to. Perhaps you could take one next year and the alternative exam your senior year.

That’s impossible. You aren’t allowed to.

blakebengals, I second the recommendation for 5 Steps to a 5. It’s very clear, concise, and thorough (this is especially helpful when you crack open the book for the first time the week of the test), although the practice tests were easier than the actual AP test.

I’m thinking about possibly self studying for AP exams. My school does not offer AP courses. Would studying for 8 exams be too much? Also, which ones should I take. I will be a junior in the fall.

^o___o

8 exams in one year? That sounds like too much to me, especially with other schoolwork/ECs.

Agreed. AP exams are not THAT easy.

How about 4 junior year and 4 senior year? I was thinking possibly Human Geography, World History, US History, and European History the 1st year and Art History, Psychology, US Govt. and Poli. and Comp. Govt. and Poli. the 2nd year. Also what are some good textbooks to use to learn the material?

my counselor doesnt understand the concept of self-studying (b.c my school offers, like, everything, and i’m doing this for national ap scholar)
how can i show him that its allowed if i pay my own exam fee and buy my own study materials and get him to register me for my school?
