Hi. I am a junior currently, and I am preparing for SAT2 USH right now.
Do you think it's little bit late for self-stufying APUSH?(along w/ SAT2)
My school doen't provide APUSH, but just regular class.
Dose the leve of SAT2 and AP USH really different?

I really need some advices.
Thanks in advance.

I think SAT 2 is easier, because it doesn't have free response questions. I took the AP test last year and got a 5.

I don't think it's too late to study for APUSH. Get a good review book and read it through a couple times. I know other people recommend the AMSCO book, but I preferred Kaplan... and it worked!!! I did take the AP class in school, but I didn't have a great teacher.

def. not too late.
if you're in the regular class you will learn almost everything you need to know...just not dbqs.
i was in regular WORLD history, the weekend before the AP exam i read an entire barrons review book, and i got a 4. my essays were shyt, i knew nothing of the mongols and had to write an essay on them.

idk why but i thought the mc on the satII US history was harder than the AP. more nitpicky details i guess. i took the AP exam on a thursday and then the SATII that saturday. (timing worked out really well)

SAT II tests little, minute details. APUSH tests your ability to understand and analyze broad historical patterns, while knowing the facts at a high level, but not as detailed as the SAT II. Maybe I'm just saying this because 2/3 right on the AP multiple-choice is a perfect score, with the essays being of similar quality, while 2/3 right on the SAT II would only be like a 600 or so.

ditto on what bartleby said about sat iis testing minute stuff...o/c, i'm a little angsty about my grade on that, so that's probly biased...last year i took apush on a friday and u.s. sat ii the following day...was a bit sick of it...self-study is good though b/c most classes don't get past the 80s, and that's definitely tested on both...apush is more trends/analysis, sat ii is more dates/places/events... just make sure you're used to the format of essay writing...like the additional document stuff...that's really the only thing that an apush class can give you.
