I'm planning to self-study for SAT chemistry and math II. This year I'm a taking a chemistry class (neither honors nor AP) and precalculus so I should be alright.

I'm using Princeton Review for chemistry and Barron's SAT Math II to study for the tests. In addition to that I'm also using SparkNotes and my school textbooks.

Will this be enough to get an 800 on both tests? I have two months to study for math II (will take in May) and three months for chemistry (will take in June).

I would use Barrons for Chem. PR is way too easy, Barrons is a lot harder. And my actual score pretty much reflected on what I got when I used Barrons. You should be fine on Math II. Good luck!

^haha i was wondering the same thing as romanigypsyeyes. im pretty sure all students self-study for subject tests? anyways i recommend barrons as well… its difficulty level is much better preparation than PR imo.

Also, the SAT Subject Test forum would probably be a better place for this. And another thing. Don’t pay any attention to your scores on the Barron’s tests - they are 100x harder than the real test.

I thought “self study” in the context of Subject tests meant that you were not enrolled in the class. Like, I took the World Hist subject test before I took AP World (but I had taken AP Art Hist and Human Geo the year before, as well as Modern Hist in 9th, all of which cover a lot of stuff on the test).

I studied for Physics/Chem/Math IIc on the day before the exam. Did them all and got 800 in each (before studying, I did a practice test on SparkNotes and got 680 in Chem, 740 in Phys and 800 in Math). Only used SparkNotes; spent ~7-9-ish hours on Chem, about 2 on Phys and 30 mins on Math. You should be waaaay more than fine with 2/3 months for just 2 of them.

For the Chemistry test - Which is better to study from, Princeton Review or Barrons? And which test scores are more accurate?

I have both, but planned on using Princeton Review since it was great for the SAT Bio, and because I have heard that Barron’s covers too much stuff.
