Any good forum to sell your old 1st year books to the incoming freshmen ? trying not to go the ebay, half.com route
Book Dores is a group on Facebook and although I haven’t used it, you might find some takers there.
Thanks. But no takers. Seems dead. What do you do with your old books ?
Generally my son sells his books back to Amazon. The key is to sell them as soon as you can before a new edition comes out.
My daughter has used multiple sites–she treats it as a challenge to get the most she can for each book. She recommends using Bigwords.com which compares sites and tells you where you can get the best price. So far she has only sold them back to Textbookrush.com and Textbookrecycling.com both of which she recommends. She said they will pay you via Paypal (and you can transfer to your bank), check, or store credit.
Amazon can be a good option. Several services with student reps come around campus at the end of each semester and buy any book for cash, always offer more than the bookstore but not necessarily the best deal.
There isn’t really a good forum on campus. Booksdore never took off. Some students just built a Vandy marketplace but it hasn’t caught on (not even sure where to find it). Some students just post in their year’s Facebook page.
Noticed today in the Duke Chronicle that students have addressed by building a college specific Craigslist type site and they invited a few other colleges to participate. We’ll see if that takes off and lasts.
