No, this isn't one of those oh my god I have a B will my admission be rescinded threads.

I am wondering what your opinions are on sending a letter to the adcom notifying them of my straight a's this semester in addition to the mid year report.

I am afraid that the report will get there too late. I am applying regular decision.

Yes, the midyear report has the 1st semester grades, so notifying them of your straight As via separate letter would just be repetitive. They’ll see it anyway.

and congrats on the grades-- straight As 1st semester is tough to get!

re: semester grades “getting there too late”. My daughter’s midterm exams just finished yesterday due to a number of snow days. Her grades won’t arrive at any of the schools she applied to until sometime next week.

It is also possible that grades that arrive later are fresher on the mind of your adcom rep.
Good luck.

Lots lots lots lots of kids have semesters that are just ending. If the school is requiring your mid year grades, rest assured they’ll be looked at. It’s only 2/10. Decisions are 4/1. Lots (x4) of time for them to be received and reviewed. They get through…what…? 20,000 (?) applications in 4 months or so. They still have nearly 2 months of that left. Luck to all.

ok, thanks for the advice. i was just worried since i was under the impression that most schools ended the first semester right before the holidays.
