Send ACT or not?

So, DS finally got the results of all his tests:
SAT: 1600
SAT subject: Math 2, Chem & Phys, all 800.
ACT: 35 (36R, 36W, 35M, 34S)
He’s planning a STEM major. He’s wondering which of the following he should do:

  1. send both SAT and ACT to colleges because 35 is still a very good score and it shows that he can do well on a different kind of test
  2. send only SAT because ACT is not perfect and furthermore it’s lower in math and science
  3. retake ACT (I don’t think this is reasonable and I’m sure CC people will say the same)
  4. throw a coin to decide between 1 and 2.

You can send both if you really want to, but I would just send the SAT since it is a perfect score. Don’t waste time retaking the ACT.

I’d send the SAT and subject tests (the only exception would be if a particular college requires that all of the standardized testing to be sent).

Send Sat with the two subject tests. I would not retake the ACT, 1 point is the difference between getting one question right or wrong essentially. I wouldn’t send both because it’s redundant since they are so close in score and admissions will most likely go with the first score they see due to the amount of files they have to look through

send both won’t hurt. but if they only require one of the 2, send the higher one. But showing non-perfect score and still high score is good too. Show you are human.

35 is a great score! I definitely think you should send both

Send the SAT. Still a great ACT score but save the $.

Just send the “perfect” SAT and the SAT2’s unless it is a school (e.g. Stanford) that requires all scores of all standardized tests. There is no upside to sending the “less than perfect” ACT. Your son has totally checked the box in terms of standardized test scores. He should be focusing his attention on his essays, LoR’s and EC’s. Congrats on his accomplishments.
