Sending SAT scores to colleges early?

Sophomore D took 2 SAT subject tests today. She already took the SAT as a freshmen and scored high enough the she does not need to retake test for colleges that will accept old SAT.

My question is since the College Board allows one to send 4 free test scores, should I take advantage of that and send scores from today’s subject test along with scores from her SAT last year. She doesn’t have a firm college list yet but would it make sense to send the scores now to 4 schools that she might apply to? I’m thinking along the lines of the safety schools that she might apply to such as State flagship and a few others. Since the safety schools won’t even require subject tests, I’m thinking that sending in the free scores now is just a way of avoiding the $11.50 charge of having to send in the scores when they are no longer free.

Will colleges keep her SAT scores that she sends in as a sophomore and match it back up to her when she applies as a senior?

I’d vote for going ahead and sending them–but keep in mind that some schools have stated they will not take old SAT scores when she will be applying. It might be worth checking the schools’ websites.

Even if they won’t accept her SAT scores, sending the scores early might possibly be seen as a sign of interest.

Sending subject tests along too (while they are free) is not a bad idea either if you’re confident they will be strong. Even schools that do not require them sometimes view them as a sign of academic strength.

Yes, I realize that some schools, albeit not many right now, might not accept the old SAT. We will probably do a little research and send the 4 free score reports that go along with today’s subject test to colleges that will accept the old SAT. My other question though is whether colleges will have any problems matching up test scores sent from a sophomore to when she applies as a senior?
