I posted this in the SAT subforum, but maybe more people will know here :)

I took the SATs this October and want to send those scores to the National Merit Program, but on the College Board website, it says that the scores won't be available until the 20th, which is three days after the deadline for completing the application =/ How is everyone sending their scores? Is there a separate deadline for sending SAT score reports?

I have scores from a few months ago that I'll also send, but I'm concerned that those scores are too low. The composite was 2170, while the PSAT cutoff for my state was 220 this year. Should I go ahead and send those now, or wait until the 20th...?

naya…Send the other scores you have. A 2170 is more than adequate as a “validating” score. You don’t need to “match” your PSAT score, you just need to meet or exceed the minimum confirming score. Historically, anything above 2000 meets the requirement. It’s usually closer to about 1960, but most folks will use 2000 as a guide just to have a little wiggle room. Code for NMSC is #0085. Congrats and good luck on your college search!!

Does anyone know if NMSC takes the best subtests scores in SAT, like colleges do? And if so, is it worth sending October scores if the improvement was 90 points, 2030 to 2120?

If your child’s score is over 2000, don’t worry. it’s high enough.

Add the M+CR…then look at the subscore of Writing (from the breakdown w/o essay)…that number should be something like 68 (or whatever)…then add a 0 to make it 680 (or whatever) and then add it to the M+CR…that’s the number that NMCorp cares about.

If it’s over 2000, you’re fine. Last year the target was 1960…it’s not going to go up over 40 pts…no way.
