For the colleges whose deadlines are on January 1st, should SAT Score Reports be ordered now? Are they delivered instantly (because they are delivered electronically) or does it take like a week or two (I heard they have to process the order or something)? Is it okay if the scores are sent after the deadline?

The site of the schools you are applying to should say when is the latest SAT date that they will accept. As far as I know, all January deadline schools accept december due dates. Check to make sure, and then just order them asap when we get them back on the 22nd. You also coulda got 4 free reports but that’s only for like 10 days after you took the test.

well, i dont mean the 4 free score reports, i already sent them out on october 29. so im not worried about when they come out. i just dont know whens the latest i can send out the $10 reports. i want more time to finalize my college list, so do i still have time to order the rest of my reports?

FYI…it took about 3-7 days for my D’s status at Collegboard to show “reports sent”. With the holidays, I’d send them as soon as possible. It is “instantaneous” in that they’re electronic (most of them), BUT…it’s not “automatically instantaneous” (you push the button and it’s done). I think it’s more like you push your button and it sends an order to SAT, who compiles scores to be sent to college A, then submits. So…that’s probably why it takes some time. And I’m guessing they’re gonna be CRAZY busy between now and Jan 1. And closed for 2 of the business days, and maybe the 1/2 day before, and not wanting to work very hard (Holiday-itis), etc. I think you’ll be fine no matter what. I think they only have to be requested (but don’t hold me to that - MUCH better NOT to have to get into a race to beat a deadline…who knows how Collegeboard’s server will behave on 12/31. Personally, I’d plan for about 10 days to be safe. 7 should be ok. But, in this environment I’d do it now. BUT…if you don’t, I wouldn’t stress. I already asked one Ivy if it was OK for my D’s transcript to be late. They said it’s fine, just get the app in. They know there will be some supplemental materials dribbling in. You could at least send them now to the schools where you’re SURE you’ll be applying. And, if money is not an issue…you can send the rest now too. Otherwise, just hold off on THOSE questionable ones…but not for too long. Luck. .
