I am an incoming freshman athlete. Three of my final AP grades slipped to C C and one C- will Cornell let me play my sport in the fall?
What does the conditional contract you signed say? Some universities like the one I’m going to be attending say to maintain your reported GPA and receive no final year semester grade lower than a C. I suggest you give them a call or do some research.
Thank you, Will it help my cause if the C- was given in one of my AP classes?
I don’t think it is likely you will be rescinded, especially since you are playing a sport. What I would be concerned with is if you will be able to maintain a good GPA once you matriculate at Cornell with very demanding practice schedule. College level sports, especially div I, is very demanding. You will have more training and more traveling, so you would more likely to miss some classes. You’ll need to do a lot better with time management. Many 4.0 high school students drop below to 3.0 at Cornell.
I would contact your coach to get his/her input, then get in touch with admission. Good luck.
