Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. Here's my question:

I consider myself a strong student (4.0 unweighed GPA, 2090 SAT, etc.) and plan on going to a good college. However, my school offers a Career Tech Center (CTC) for people looking to go into a trade. I want to be an engineer, but I really want to take Automotive Technology at the CTC just for fun. If I do that, then I will not be able to take Calculus 3 and will have to settle for AP Statistics as a math class. I know Calc 3 is an important class for future engineering students. Will admissions people kill me for taking the "easy" math class in order to pursue an interest? Also, would having an easier senior year be a bad idea before college? By the way my schedule would be as follows:

...................1st semester..................2nd semester
Period 1......AP Physics 1.................AP Physics 2
Period 2......AP Lang & Comp.........AP Statistics
Period 3......CTC..............................CTC <--- This is where Calc 3 would be
Period 4......CTC..............................CTC

I will also probably take AP Psychology as an independent study course.

What do you think of this schedule. Is a half slate of classes (and no calculus) such a bad thing?
