Senior Year 1st semester F

I had recently taken an American Democracy class and I got into some trouble with academic dishonesty first semester. Since this is my second offense, i received an F in the course and my GPA is now 3.16 weighted. I had applied to CSULA, CSUF, CSULB, SDSU, Cal Poly SLO, UCSB, UCI, UCR, and UCSC. I was wondering because I am unsure on what is going to happen when I have to send in my transcripts to the schools. I’ve already been accepted to CSULA and CSUF. please help

For the UC’s, you need to do the following:

Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.

If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

For the Cal States, I would contact admissions for each CSU and find out your options. Some CSU’s can be lenient and will wait and see what you get for your final grade 2nd semester. Some specifically state that if you get an F in any class Senior year, you are subject to having your acceptance rescinded. I would find out now what you can do and not wait until final transcripts or you may not have any schools to attend in the Fall.

SDSU’s Provisional Admission Policy:
Keep Your Grades Up!
Admission is based on self-reported information from your CSUMentor application. Once you are provisionally admitted, we will verify this information against your official transcript. Please make sure to report accurate information.
Your admission may be rescinded for reasons such as the following:
-your GPA, test scores or course grades are lower than what you reported on the application.
-you miss any admission deadlines.
-you earn D or F grades in any coursework (not just a–g courses) taken during your senior year.
-you misreported or did not complete a required course.

SLO’s Provisional Admission Policy:
All freshman students selected for admission to Cal Poly are required to meet the following ‘Terms and Conditions of Admission:’

-You send your official, final, high school transcript with confirmation of your graduation by July 15, 2017. Students are highly encouraged to submit final transcripts as soon as they are available.
-You accurately reported your college preparatory coursework and grades on your Application for Admission as they appeared on your transcript at the time of application.
-You must complete all coursework designated on your application, including those listed as “in progress” or “planned,” with a grade of “C” (or better) no later than the previous Spring Term for admission for the Fall Term. You must maintain the academic standard that allowed for your admission.
-You must complete each term in your senior year with an overall 3.0 GPA in your College Prep Coursework.
-You have been offered admission to the major stated on your Student Center on MyCalPoly. It is not possible to change your major prior to enrollment at Cal Poly.
Conditionally admitted students must respond by May 1, 2017. Note: Once you ‘accept’ our offer of admission, you are certifying you understand and agree to these terms and conditions and that you are making a commitment to attend Cal Poly.
Any discrepancy between the information you self-reported on your application and your transcripts or supporting documents will prompt an individual review of your admission file which may result in your admission being rescinded.

Ok, but will the UCs rescind my admission if I get in? how about the CSUs? I would like to know so I can prepare for the worst.

“I got into some trouble with academic dishonesty . . . Since this is my second offense.” Regardless of what happens with the colleges, enough with the cheating.

How did you know he cheated?

Do you know if/how this 2nd offense will show on your high school record, in addition to the grade? That might be as much an issue as the grade. Think a college won’t look favorably on your app if they know you’ve had 2 offenses…1 can often be explained away but 2 is a different story.
