Hi, If I switch out of my AP Art class into a Photography Class for next semester, do I need to notify the colleges I have applied to? I am switching since it is a combined Art I, Art II, Art III and AP class with little time in the dark room. I will get to focus on learning photography and use of the darkroom in this new class. Will this look bad to colleges? I am taking 4 other AP's, have strong GPA and SAT scores?

Yes, you need to notify the colleges you applied to. It can be considered a "material change" in the information you put on your application. There's no way of knowing how much of a difference it might make in the admissions process. But it's much better than having them accept you and discover the change in July when they get your final transcript, and rescind you for failing to amend your application.

Thank you. Should I call them or send them a fax? Since it is an elective swap, do you think it will look like an unfavorable "material change"? I appreciate your feedback.
