September 2010 ACT English Discussion

As a result was the only wrong answer I remember.

did anyone else read this post? hahaha

I thought you said the answer was “;as a result”?

hey guys on the second to last question of the english section it said "elizabeth was a surprising writer. " and then two of the answer choices continued the sentence with “while she”… were you supposed to combine sentences or keep it the same?

JDE: I never said that.
I said it with a colon. With a semicolon, “as a result” would make sense and would be correct. With a colon, not so much.

I don’t remember the passage, but there was a question that was “If … ,adjective clause starting with the word more, rest of sentence” and the phrase in commas was underlined. Was the answer A (no change)? At first, I was confused, but then I saw that the comma was underlined, so none of the answer choices were correct because they would take away the commas around the adjective clause. Am I correct?

^are you talking about this question:

“If communities provided the facilities, and people started riding, benefits would contribute to reduce air pollution…”?
Is this the quesiton? IF so, your answer is correct

^ Yes, that was it. Thanks!

“Symbol” was a correct answer right?

^that was in the english section. lol

i put symbol too,nice

^^ This is the english discussion, lol

oh whoops. I thought this was reading lol i can’t read

is there any place to discuss the essay from today’s test?
…or is that “stricitly probihited”?

But I thought a comma and conjunction connects two independent clauses. Surely ‘If communities provided the facilities’ isn’t an independent clause. Neither is the other half of the sentence actually  hmmmmm…HELP!

:( im taking test tommorow and want to go to sleep, but I can’t without understanding my question :(

Wuhhht? lol how are you taking it tomrrow?

^ACT’s tomorrow???

I’m calling the bet that redjohn gets a perfect score!

haha

I’m a Sunday test taker, and no they change the tests  though your claim is still a possibility  (unlikely however)

ANYWAY MY QUESTION IS STILL IN NEED OF AN ANSWER
