September 2010 ACT English Discussion

^LOL it’s because we are talking about different things. Whatever I am done with this ****.

Are you hot though? Answer mi pregunta!!!

Oh, well, I guess that’s what I get for trying to skim that one. You know, I had poke fun at first. I hope I didn’t erase it.

^ poke fun FTW

It was poke fun because the first part of the passage said that English people loved those books to see how much more civilized they were than everyone else.

it was poke fun. But for some reason i remember this in the reading section? or am i confused

^your confused

Hey guys,

I took the ACT yesterday. In the english section, how many questions were there that asked for an answer that did NOT fit in the sentence? I always screw up on these and over look the NOT part and thus, get them wrong. I counted 2 (but I know I missed at least 1).

Yaaay. I put poke fun too :DD It was really popular with the British, and the British prolly wouldnt have read it if the actually praised them in any way. Plus she called the Mississippi River a muddy mass and talked about how Americans read the paper and worked in factories or something (which to the British, were odd odd odd).

But anyways, I’m just saying this because I want to get this qustion right >-> I’m already at -3 (I havent even got past the 5th page) with 2/3 missed being vocab in context questions. I hate vocab. hjkdsfhjksdhjk

did anyone else notice that there was only one question that even had the option to omit (and im pretty sure that wasnt the right answer either). that’s the least iv ever seen on a test

^ Yeah, I noticed. They also tested our vocabulary with a question or two.

there was one question that asked us to choose between thought, said, considered, and labeled to replace “called”
what did you guys put?

said 10char

Said.

Was the “moreover” question one where they asked for which one didn’t work?

^ I hope so, I also put moreover :D

yes, it was one of those except ones

sorry that I keep bringing this up, but anyone remember one of the last houdini questions about self-reinvention … : it… was how it was in the passage. and another choice was "self-reinvention … : which created legacy or something

do you remember the question? i’m not sure what i put

did you guys get like 4 b/g’s in a row?
this was on the englishwoman passage…

^^ OHH I remember that question now. It was talking about how he flew that plane in Australia and asked why that paragraph showed how good he was at self promotion?

I put it was because he was able to attract a lot of people to watch and stuff.

I really have no idea if I put moreover. I remember thinking it wouldn’t have made sense, but I also feel like I put an for some reason… ugh

what was the question?
