yeah the answer was “reward”; all of the other ones were def possible.
@soccerryan about the ehrie one, i put no change. i’m pretty sure all the punctuation was properly placed.
for the rice, it was about the birds and the fowls

^tothetop you definitely need to keep the “It was rice season”. The passage began with a vague, literary discreption of what was going on. Without that sentence, the passage would go straight into “To harvest rice” or something.

one the second to last question of the english section it said "elizabeth was a surprising writer. "… were you supposed to combine sentences or keep it the same?

i agree with tothetop about the " it was rice season"

but since majority of you put leave it where it is…

@ tothetop, i’m pretty sure that one was supposed to be kept the same. the first sentence was like a description…then the statement “it was rice season” explained what the first sentence was referring to

Can someone tell me how the shakespeare sentence was worded in the passage?

^Anapo:

Englishpeople were shocked that men read newspapers but not Shakespeare and women worked in factories instead of as maids.

@tothetop: I don’t think the first sentence even mentioned rice. I think the second sentence “it was rice reason” explained the preceding sentence. And I think celebrity was wrong, that’s what I put too but according to dictionary.com, celebrity also can mean fame and renown. And yes, I also put D.

@massgirl: Yeah, I was down to either no change or what I put. The change would be to put commas around “Ehrie,” and I think you had to because it wasn’t necessary for the sentence to make sense. You easily remove Ehrie and say: “Eventually, his original nickname changed to ‘Bob.’” Anyone agree with me?

^ Oh right, I forgot about that question. People put commas around his name, right?

SoccerRyan there was already a comma before Ehrie, so you needed to put one after it. A lot of people missed it.

I had it right then changed it. ARGGGGGG! and I think thats the only one I missed (hopefully)

wait so billabong what was the answer to the ehrie one…do you remember the letter you got? i got A

Shouldn’t A have been NO CHANGE? If so, I think it was B. But if you knew the comma rule, then you probably got it right.

The answer was definitely A.

i put A as well, i believe there was a comma already before and after Ehrie

Was the correct phrase for that one: his nickname, “Elrhie,” changed to…

^yes. yes it was

^Yes that’s right. There was a comma attached before “Ehrie”, so you need one after it.

So there was commas around Ehrie but no comma before the new nickname? Because this is what I did.

^the answer choice was A. I’m getting the feeling you are implying something else.
