Exactly, it wasn’t the main focus of the passage, but Choice C stated “briefly touched upon economics” then stated the true theme of the passage. The last paragraph briefly discussed the economics of lace.

i dont get the x^2 + M it said thatt it could only be 0<= n <= 20
so i assumed that 1 4 9 and 16 could all work

also, that question about cans in squares except 10th layer 1 4 9 16 etc… omg

What exactly was the question?

@smoochum the equation was x^2+m=0. Thus, x^2=-M, but the interval for M was real numbers so the only solution for M is 0 (1 solution). ACT couldve been really mean and put 0 solutions :)

The cans one is easy, the number of cans in each layer is the square of the number layer. In other words, the nth layer has n^2 cans. Thus, the 10th layer has 100 cans.

The can one or the M one?

Science curve predictions anyone?

the can one >.<
it totally said

10th layer was not arranged in a square so i assumed that it wasn’t 100

Ignoring the extraneous information, it said the first, second, third, and fourth layers of the pyramid have 1, 4, 9, and 16 cans, respectively. What is the number of cans in the 10th layer? 10^2=100

also what about the one with a circle, a radius of 5 and then you had to find the tangent line?

5 square-root 3

can you explain how?

they said the line that went from the center to the point outside was 10. The radius of the circle is five so you know that the line from the center to the tanget line at the point it touches the circle is 5. Since tangent lines are always perpendicular to the line from point of intersection to the center, you know there is a right angle and the triangle formed is a right angle. Since 10 is the hypotenuse, you plug in 10 for c and 5 (the length off the line that goes from center to tangent line) for a in pythagorean’s theorem to get b=square root of 75 which simplifies to 5 squareroot 3

What was the science question where it asked how many flowers changed colors from experiment 1?

Sent from my SGH-T959 using CC App

It was 2. White and Purple. And it was how many different flower phenotypes are there.

Oh waitttttttttt wait am i right? I think i’m wrongggggggggggggggggg

no, it was 5 square-root 5.

it gave you 10 as a leg of the right triangle, and the other leg was the radius (5).

5 squared plus 10 squared. = 125.

square-root of 125, /25, 5 square-root 5.

@jacobo i am pretty positive the 10 was a leg, not the hypotenuse…

Dang I mustve read the question wrong, thats so easy -____-

Sent from my SGH-T959 using CC App

10 was the hypotenuse not the leg.

i got 5sqrt3 also and i did every problem in that section 3 times.

god dammit.
