***SEPTEMBER 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

@clichescreenname sorry I can’t remember, but it’s definitely not in science or reading cuz I did not have extra time to look for answer patterns :expressionless:

@Hermit9 I still don’t know what the problem was asking. It was probably something really easy that I missed. I was really distraught because I’m usually in the 34-36 range for math. I was just way off of my game today.

@TheWaffleMan149 Haha interesting. Did you believe the Math was harder than usual?

@cjrs123 @glassflowers i thought that it was just in a very strange order, too, and i thought the math increased by difficulty. it was just an overall weird and difficult section. i sincerely hope i got lucky bubbling because i’m expecting 34-36E/35-26R/30-32S but math…i’d be happy with a 28 or 29

@smoothrun98 Absolutely. I took practice tests from '04 through this year, and I noticed that the math started to get more difficult in recent years. However, none of them were as bad as today!

How do you guys think the new essay will be graded?

The old method made sense. Two people read the essay, each giving it a score out of 6. You then get a combined score out of 12. But now what? Do they just multiply your combined score by 3 to receive a score out of 36?

Lets say you write an 8/12 essay. Normally, that’s pretty good. But now what is it? A 24/36? That’s no where near as good. I’m very concerned lol.

I don’t recall any complicated ones…maybe I can’t remember anything after being stabbed by reading :frowning:

Did everyone have the same form?

@TheWaffleMan149 Wow that’s remarkable. The first 40-50 questions were fairly simple, it was just the last few where it became difficult. :expressionless: The curve should be interesting haha

i was hoping for a 34-35 so i wouldn’t have to retake it, but i’m worried that it’ll get even harder as the year goes on

I found the math to be hard

@smoothrun98 Yeah. I started having issues at 49

I thought math was really easy!! Oh no now I’m scared that I messed it all up :-S

Reading was…okay I guess. I had to fly through the last one because I spent too much time on the first three. Science was okay too I think.

@tina23 In the English section? Yes, I had that and was so worried! It was one of the middle columns I think… Hopefully we did it right…

Today was my first time taking the ACT (I’m a junior). Math was really hard. Others weren’t that hard, and I thought science was surprisingly easy. Hopefully I didn’t make silly errors… And the new essay… Don’t even let me get started. It was so hard, like I couldn’t think of many good examples… Sigh… Scores, where art thou

Funny thing is usually when the 5 minutes warning is called, I start to panic and get like 2 questions done.

do scores come in 2 weeks?

@tina23 Lol same. Particularly in math.

@glassflowers I think so, but the proctor told us that it’ll come out in 5-8 weeks. Odd. Maybe it’s cuz of the new scoring policies
