I’m a little wary of getting my hopes up for the score I want- which is why I intend to take the test again next month. And the one after that.
What did you guys think of it?

A bit disappointed because my proctor really rushed through the sections. I don’t know if the directions changed but usually the proctor says “put pencil down, end of test 3” but instead says “end of test 3 go to test 4” so there is no break at all inbetween the sections except after the math section…
Did anyone else have this problem?
English: decent but many unsure
Math: a little harder than the practice tests
Reading: time was tight especially on the last one
Science: harder than past tests but the science Viewpoints passage was easier
Essay: time was very tight. Unhelpful that the topic was so specific…and unsophisicated?
@penngirlpending That’s rough, sheesh… There is definitely supposed to be a little breather in between sections.
I agree with you on the essay- I felt as though mine was just…bland.
English - kinda hard
Math - almost suspiciously easy. Im beginning to wonder whether i may have made careless mistakes.
Reading-edge Generally easy but one question tripped me
Science- Missed one already and it was very verbose so meh. Ok I guess.
Do you think the math curve will be generous or not?
I think English will also have a generous curve
Just finished taking the test. I think English and Math went really well. Felt extremely rushed on the reading section and thought it was a bit difficult. Science was alright although I was unsure about 1-2 questions and didn’t have time to check. My realistic best case scenario would be 36 on english, 36 on math, 32 on reading, 34 on science for a composite of 35. Worst case scenario would be 34 on english, 34 on math, 28 on reading, and 30 on science for a composite of 32. How did reading feel for everyone? Im really hoping theres a nice curve
For me, English was pretty average, math was relatively difficult, reading felt extremely rushed and I didn’t get to answer the last question, and science also felt average. hoping for generous reading and math curves!
Hardness on scale of 1-10
English:5
Math:8
Reading:3
Science:1.5
Science has always been so easy for me, why do people struggle. It’s just reading graphs, same with reading. Math is super tough for me, guess I just need more practice
This is my second time, I got a 31 last time, hoping for a 33/34 for Stanford.
hey guys! i am disappointed with my performance. i was going good till the Reading section. my english & maths is like 34-36/36 range and reading is like 28-31/36 range but in science i got freaked out. it was 7 passages instead of 6. i freaked out and could not calm myself. i would usually get 34/36 on that but not this time… i am deeply disappointed for i found out that mine was a REPEAT TEST OF OCTOBER 2012 for the reading questions matched. and i had prepared from official guide 2016-17 where the tests had 6 passages for science section. and conflicting viewpoints was always either bio/chem. but on the test i got physics with some formulas for muons, this was disappointing. i cant just shell out money for the next time.
am deeply saddened by the fact that in our country they tested a pattern that was different from the diagnostic test of official guide 2016-17. they could have just said “hey southeast guys. just prepare for the old version”
English-I thought i did well. Others said it was hard, so I am not completely sure.
Math- rip i think 5 wrong or something
reading- honestly i don’t know. Seemed okay and i had 3 extra minutes.
science- the conflicting viewpoints passage was much easier than expected. The last passage was difficult for me.
Also my proctor screamed 5 minutes so it was a little startling lol
English - Finished with 15 minutes to spare; however, there must have been 10-15 questions where I just wasn’t positive. I feel mixed over how well I did. Best Case: 34; Worse Case: 30
Math - started out way easier than past tests but got progressively harder yet still very doable. I need to review how matrix products can model systems of equations XD . Best Case: 36; Worse Case: 33
Reading - Haha, I cried during this section. Way harder and waaaayyy more rushed than previous tests. I wasn’t as hooked onto the passages as previous tests. Still answered all the questions; although, I can’t tell whether I answered the majority correctly. Best Case: 33; Worse Case: 28 (I really don’t want to get a score lower than 30 )
Science - Too easy. Last time I took the ACT in April, I got a 35. This was just as easy, maybe a few tricky questions. Best Case: 36; Worse Case: 32
Overall, besides the Reading section, I feel that I did really well. I’m hoping for a W=31, M=34, and R=31 (since I already have a 35 in Science from April) to get a 33 Composite Superscore.
English - ridiculously easy, expecting a 36
Math - also pretty easy, was unsure about 1 though. pretty sure I got a 35 or 36.
Reading - meh, pretty tight. probably a 30 or 31, 32 if there is a generous curve
Science - easy until last 2 sections, LOL RIP. this is typically one of my best sections but I bombed it pretty badly. almost ran out of time so I starting guessing on a few. probably 32 tops as well.
Writing - really easy but then again I’m good at bs-ing. expecting at least a 10/12.
Best case composite: 34 - 36, 36, 32, 32, 12
Worse case composite: 32 - 35, 35, 30, 28, 9
IF ONLY MOST COLLEGES SUPERSCORED ACT ALONG WITH THE SAT…I guess I’ll probably roll with the SAT when I apply to colleges next year because my scores on practice tests are reaching the 1540-1560 range.
My proctor would not let us use our watches for some reason, so my timing got messed up in reading and science.
English best case:36 wc:30
Math best case:34 wc:26
Reading best case:36 wc:33
Science best case :36 wc: 34
You might want to report that @ish512 . If it doesn’t beep or buzz or make any noise, it is legal.
First Time (Sep 2015):
E - 28
M - 35
R - 26
S - 24
C - 28
Second Time (Feb 2016):
E - 35
M - 36
R - 28
S - 33
C - 33
Third Time (Jun 2016):
E - 33
M - 35
R - 28
S - 28
C - 31
Fourth Time (Sep 2016):
E - This section was definitely the toughest for me. I managed to finish, but some questions were definitely hard.
M - I thought that math was pretty easy. I had trouble with 1 question, but I figured it out.
R - I have never finished all four passages in 35 minutes. Either because I practiced a lot or because the passages were easy. I finished with 6 minutes remaining, but I don’t want to say that I did well.
S - I thought that this section was pretty straight forward. Some questions tripped me at first, but I think I pulled through after reading a couple of times.
C - I’m really hoping for a 35 or a 36. That’s not to say that I don’t want a 34 - that’d be amazing, but it’d be even better because my dream school is Williams.
How are you guys so good at the math, I’m only a sophomore and it seems overwhelming
@balloman hey man it’s all about practice - you still got plenty of time. don’t just study for act math. i really recommend reviewing and previewing school math materials. you got this dude
