Service upon graduation

Hey everyone I have a question about service upon graduation.

My first choice is USNA however, if I am not accepted there but am accepted to USCGA at the end of my first class year am I allowed an inter-service transfer to the Navy or Marines?

I know some graduates from USNA go to AF or Army, does anyone know if this is possible?

I did the AIM program at USCGA this summer, and someone asked that question. If I remember correctly, it was said that it hasn't been done in the past, but that they couldn't imagine why it wouldn't happen. Did you apply Early Action to USCGA?

yes I did, I went to AIM 1, was in Bravo 3, you?

AIM 2, Alpha-4

I think it would be highly unlikely. As part of the Dept. of Homeland Security, (geeze! I hate that name), and with its increased role in national security, the Coast Guard needs every officer it can get. You might want to check out the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point, NY. You can cross-commission into any service from there. At every graduation KP has five separate commissioning ceremonies, one for each service.

I am applying to USMMA as well.

My understanding is that the inter-service transfer program is limited to commissioned officers. You should check out the program description. Run a google and you will find the specifics.

There are a few interservice transfers that occur AFTER graduation. You cannot transfer from one service Academy to another during your four years of school. There is a chance to be an exchange student for a semester at one of the other Academies, but that's all. Only one or two people go into a different service. My suggestion is that you chose your branch of service and try to get into that Academy or ROTC program.
