Several Chances and Explanations

I have already been admitted but a couple friends wanted to know their chances for RD come March 20th.

Friend 1
FSU GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1760 (1180 M+CR)
ACT: 26 Composite
Major: I think it was Chemistry or Biology not sure...
9 AP Classes Mostly all science related...
ECS: Are pretty good.
Friend 2:
FSU GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1720 (Not sure about CR+M)
ACT: 26 Composite (31 Reading)
Major: Criminology (I know FSU is ranked very high in this area making it more selective.)
3 AP All senior year.. reason for her really high UW 3.8
ECS: Not too sure.. in that honors society thingi... and something else.
Friend 3:
FSU GPA:4.2
SAT: 1550 (Not sure)
ACT: 22
Major: Communications or something..
5 APS Distributed Evenly amongst high school.
ECS: Pretty involved person i'd say.

My first friend got accepted into UF but dislikes the fact that Florida students are so stuck up and racism is ample... and Gainesvile (the farm) isn't very appealing to him. Is FSU a good place for biological sciences he wants to be a doctor and wants to know about FSU? That is all.. and I thank you in advance.

Racism is everywhere, even at FSU. As a minority myself I know it’s something you can’t run from. He shouldn’t base his future on that, plus there are groups on many campuses that are dedicated to diversity and unity that spread awareness and drop knowledge on the less intelligent folk out there. No campus is immune from ignorant *******s, as sad as that is. Also, the diversity at FSU is probably the worst, if you look at the diveristy pie charts around the web it’s pretty clear FSU does not embrace too much diversity and I see it everyday when I walk around campus.
UF has higher ratings in the sciences, but honestly not sure how reliable ratings are tbh.
What school is he planning on for medical school?
Undergrad doesn’t matter too much, you just want to make sure you go to a Uni that will prepare you and challenge you enough before moving on. There aren’t many hospitals in Tally I will add because it is a small city, which will limit the amount of interning and volunteering he will be able to do during the semesters at FSU.
I am a Nole but I’m not going to be like one of those people that act like FSU is the best and one and only school. UF has some good stuff too I’m sure, but can’t comment too much because I don’t attend that school. I know people who do (they are minorities, and are going into medical fields) and they love it there and feel embraced, and they love the course selections as well.

Friend 1: Decent
Friend 2: Decent
Friend 3: Not happening with that ACT score, unless he meets the 3 minimums.

Thanks for clarifying the racism thing and ill make sure he reads it. And thanks pasbal for the chance… Her status says she doesn’t meet the requirements or something like that… Idk if that’s what you meant.

FSU requires minimum scores in each section of the ACT, which is likely what is being displayed.

With a 22 ACT, it sounds like she doesn’t have the minimum in one of those categories.

Ahhh ok so if she doesn’t meet those requirements there is no hope for her? She’s one of those really responsible homework doers and whatnot but she isn’t very good @ tests apparently.

Pretty much. They’re called minimum requirements for a reason.

FSU might call into question how the person was taking AP classes but couldn’t meet minimum requirements for FSU, and reject them.

Keep in mind, the second decision date is also more competitive than the traditional December decision date, as there are typically fewer spots available for applicants. December is the standard decision date, where the majority of FSU’s acceptances are handed out.

Ahhh alright man thanks for the info ill make sure to tell her what you said… She took the act and sat again in January and February so I hope she scored higher. Go Noles!
