several ideas for the box - opinions?

I can't decide what to put in my box, though I have some ideas. Please let me know what you think...

1.) one of my favorite things to do with my friends is to tell riddles. I am considering writing a riddle (NOT a joke) in the box.

2.) a poem in spanish. Its one of my favorites, it displays my love of foreign language, and i come from a spanish speaking background (though, being in Texas, I'm sure they have enough of that - I add more to their diversity by being from CT than by being hispanic)

3.) a recipe - i love to cook, its a snack eaten a lot in Cuba, and I recently made it for a church event which means a lot to me.

4.) a photograph from my summer math class - we were 6 kids, one from NY, one from rural NH, me, 2 pakistanis, and a dominican boy. I loved the small size, the diversity, and i love taking pictures :)

5.) something else entirely.

Don't seek others' opinions or the box will not totally reflect YOU and what YOU want to express! That's my $.02. Whatever you put is probably fine and I would not worry about it too much.

I wish I could be more clear, but there are ways of doing multiple things in the box;-).

Here is a riddle: Two (USD) coins add up to thirty and one of them is not a nickel, what are the two coins?

a quarter and a nickle. the one i would put is:

A man lies killed, surrounded by 53 rectangular bicycles. The bicycles have no wheels, though one of them has two diamonds on it. Explain.

Perhaps I shall try to fit more than one in...

can you explain that last riddle kit...im stoopy, sorry...i put a collage of the most important things to me in my box btw

Kit -

I think all of your ideas have merit, but I would choose the poem in Spanish, and add a translation in English.

Some ideas don't communicate effectively on paper (i.e., the recipe can't be evaluated unless it is prepared). Translation is both a craft and an art form; it will showcase your superior language abilities and your love of literature. This, in my opinion, is much more effective than a snapshot or riddle. (BTW, both of those riddles have been around a very long time - the answer to the bicycle one refers to a deck of Bicycle playing cards. Now that everyone plays cards on the computer, the reference is lost!)

Choose the one that reveals the most about you, your interests, and your personality.

I've never even heard of Bicycle playing cards

I agree, the Spanish poem is probably the best

Once again, there is a way of putting multiple items, you just have to be creative.

honestly, another poem? I don't know, maybe you're a fantastic poet, but they'll already know you're proficient in spanish and I've heard college admission people say that they rarely see a poem that impresses. I'd go to with the recipe! its unqiue, and very personal, especially with the little info on it. And who doesn't love food?!?! :-) Either one that wouldn't be a bad idea.

i put a picture of my room before and after it was painted (creativity), a picture of my family, and a picture of my dog. Photoshop was a big help.

yeah. just dont do what i did. i put WAY too much thought into my "box" and i dont think theyll realize that its anything more than "man running"
its actually a picture of japanese sprinter shingo suetsugu (the only asian EVER to win a sprinting medal on the world level) running against an american sprinter. i am a half japanese american who has lived in america for my whole life and participates a lot in japanese cultural stuff, and sprints. but like i said, theyll probably look at it and think, "huh, 2 guys running. how dull."

i wrote a poem, lol. it was really stupid and lame, if that makes you feel any better.

LOL A POEM HOW STUPID

j/k ;)

I cut and pasted 2 pictures.

I just stuck a picture on... haha I kind of regret not putting more time in it, though.

Hey I like poems. :p
