Sexual Orientation Thread

^^Really? At my school it’s the opposite. We even have a club for them, but anyone can join:)

But what type of lesbians are they?
A. Relatively normal girls who like other girls.
B. Psycho insane man hating feminists who hate men.

I love A. B are useless humans to me.

I’m a feminist. O.o.

“^^Really? At my school it’s the opposite. We even have a club for them, but anyone can join”

Let me repeat. I go to an all male Catholic school. I’m not Catholic but most kids are. Catholics hate gays for some reason. It’s also all male so the testosterone level is off the charts. Someone who admits to being gay would probably be picked on unfortunately.

hatersunite, idk if your question was directed at me but it seems to have been. Eh, it’s not really either. They’re the emo/goth/punk looking ones or the ones who are butch that look like guys and is “one of the guys” or pretty much anyone on the softball team.

^^Haha, I wasn’t talking to you. ^I was talking to you lol I meant at my school, there are more gay people than lesbians. Most of the girls at my school are superficial cheerleaders. Regardless though, I’m content with everyone there:)

I go to a Catholic school in a county that voted McCain.

I’m also Catholic. O.o.

WELL, I’m not like “legit” Catholic, since I was never baptized, but I go to mass on Saturdays!

But are you a man hating feminist? There is a major difference.

Do you think it is fine to hate on men because they commit so many crimes? Do you think the world would have less wars if females ran politics?

I got to a Catholic school as well, there are only a few “gay” guys at my school, no one picks on them. Everyone is pretty chill. The words “gay” and “lesbian” are thrown around loosely at my school. Some people will be like “I’m gay but I still like girls” and vice versa. Weird, I know.

No one has openly come out at my small school and if they did they would be ridiculouded beyond belief if they did not have the right friends. There is one guy i’m 99% sure is gay but he has a good friend group so if he does come out he would be ok. The only gay people i know is my principle of my school (yea kinda a what the hell moment), he is a great guy tho and my math teacher of two years who just retired and was really really awsome.

Haha wow. At least I’m in a blue area. That must be rough for you.

Oh! My orchestra teacher was gay but you’d never know it. He wasn’t your typical gay male. He didn’t have the stereotypical gay male voice, dressed like any old male teacher in khakis and buttons ups, etc etc. 100% straight from the outside. He was such an awesome guy but he resigned b/c the school tried to fire him for being gay which is ridiculous b/c he had graduated from our high school and had been there for years and years. We think the band director was also jealous of him and had something to do with it as well since he’s pretty powerful around here (seriously Nazi/cult-leader like!). Then the school gets the two most flamboyant gays (or EXTREMELY metrosexual) as subs/student teachers so they’re complete hypocrites… grrr.

There’s a much different mentality in an all guys school. I really wish there were some solid private or Catholic schools arond me that are coed. Baltimore has a bunch (like 30) private or Catholic schools and like 3 are coed.

the thread goes on and on…having a hard time reading all of it.
so skipped it. and came to post.

i’m an international. and seriously it’s ultra discrimination for gays here.

Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of economic, social, and political equality to men. So if a woman hates me, as in she thinks they’re inferior, she’s not saying that women are equal to men, she’s not being a feminist, she’s being a misandrist, just as male chauvinist pigs are misogynists.

But would the world have fewer wars if women ran politics? I’m not sure. Female heads of state are less likely to become involved in war and they tend to focus on domestic issues, but this may have a lot to do with which countries elect female leaders. Northern Europe does it more than anyone else, and these countries are relatively peaceful and domestically focused anyway. Of courses, the women who are being elected have also already been introduced into the gender dichotomy and have been socialized, so they’ve been inculcated into a culture that tells them to be more peaceful and more domestic. In a feminist society, with no gender dichotomy, they would do pretty much exactly what male leaders do, but what male leaders do would also be different.

In some ways I’m not into mainstream feminism, because a lot of times they push for things that are ideological rather than real and fail to realize the effects of race and income. Eg: [some of them](http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124294779002345281.html) are pushing away from marriage as it historically tethered women and rejecting it as a remnant of that of oppression w/o realizing that marriage is one of the best things poor minority women can do to advance their situation and the situation of their children, female children especially since having children young and unmarried is a recidivistic cycle. And I think the way Third Wave feminism “embraces” sexuality is sort of [out there](http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123388741179055387.html).

Duke, what country if you don’t mind me asking b/c I know most of Europe is pretty accepting however the further east you travel, the less accepting.

That’s really a good point. As Americans we are obsessed with equality sexual orientation, racial, gender, etc. The media loves to fuel the flames and talk about how prejudice America remains. However, we are so far ahead of almost every other country it’s not even funny. Europeans are unbelievably racist. Gays are executed in parts of Asia. Sometimes we should realize how far ahead of the game we are instead of complaining. It’s instinctive/natural to discriminate on the basis of size and gender. And we’re working on eliminating the racial and orientation discrimination.

Don’t remind me, this year will be the worst because of prom etc.

Going to Boston and DC was really eye-opening and I’m really anticipating college.

“That would be like starting a “what is it like to be a minority thread” and then whining about the injustices of being white.”
um, this would happen on CC, lol.

so, i’m 17, straight, & have never dated. the guys in my school are just so…icky :\ can’t wait for college, though :)

“BTW, hour glass shape > skinny models. The media loves anorexic girls but I’d be willing to bet most American men prefer a girl with some assets and meat.”
agreed. kim kardashian>kate moss.

i haven’t read past about page 4 in this thread, haha. but, um, i have a gay guy friend, & that’s about it :)

p.s. this thread has seriously touched upon so many different topics, lol.
