I saw an interview with one of the stars of Book of Mormon-- Cody Jamison Strand has played Elder Cunningham on Broadway (after Gad) and now is in L.A. He said: “I think I got rejected from every single college I auditioned for, except one–the University of South Dakota (his state school).” Not sure we hear too much about that program on CC, but in any event–the future is much bigger and brighter than simply which college/program one is admitted to. It’s natural to obsess of which turn is ahead in our own kid’s path (that’s what CC is for) but I think our kids need to be prepared to shoot for bigger dreams than which college they attend.

@madbean THANK YOU

Great reply @madbean.
And won’t we have a laugh if our D’s both end up at U Arts @Bisouu? I have high hopes for your D at U Arts.

Seems to be no word from Syracuse today. Someone had posted they release on Friday afternoons. Anyone?

No word from Syracuse here either.

I can’t figure why she has not received word from U Arts…she and her friend both auditioned on the same day at unifieds…her friend got a rejection on Monday…we have heard nothing….

bisouu - Everything can change in an instant and you and D aren’t out of it yet!

Bisouu - same here. My D auditioned for U of Arts at Unifieds and hasn’t heard a word.

I’m hoping this is a good sign…those big fat envelopes take a long time in the mail ?

U Arts does send a big envelope for an acceptance!

Thinking good thoughts for all of you and your kidlets.

@bisouu, my D was accepted to only one of her auditioned programs and it was the last one she heard from. March was a long tearful month around here. In the end she wound up turning down the (big name) BFA for a safety BA program she had fallen for. Life is funny that way. Our kids will find, or create if necessary, their own paths but it is so hard to watch them struggle. Hang in there mama.

bisouu, my thoughts are with you and your D. I know how you feel, it’s such a stressful time! Hang in, bisouu, you still have great schools to hear from.

Jumping off of what LeftofPisa said (and being a relentless Pollyanna), one good thing about a long painful March is that it forces you to scrutinize those BA safety options in a way that you’d probably overlook if acceptances to auditioned programs were flying through the mail slot. And this can be a great thing-- as LeftofPisa demonstrates so well. Even if she does get an auditioned acceptance and goes for it in the end, you will know that she made a thoroughly informed choice.

I’m so thankful to have found this group! It’s nice to know that other loving, caring, moms are as stressed as I am! Wondering if anyone has heard anything about San Diego State BA. I’ve looked and looked on CC and can’t seem to find much info.

To all of you who are waiting, sending you hugs. As a mom who has walked this road twice, these kids will find their way and I do think it is very hard on us parents. The kids are resilient, they are used to being turned down and they just move on to the next audition. We (the parents!) take a lot longer getting over each rejection, so it is a learning process for us.

Saturday mail came and still nothing. Okay, I know I don’t post a lot, but… IF WE DON’T GET LETTERS SOON FROM THESE SCHOOLS I WILL EXPLODE!!! Okay, I feel better now.

My daughter got rejected from a school (we understand that happens) but today we received a big giant envelope from said university saying Congratulations! Welcome Class of 2018! (she was already admitted academically). Inside it says…Congratulations you have been admitted to the class of 2018. Blah blah blah… two paragraphs down it says "unfortunately we could not admit you to your desired major but due to your outstanding academic standing we hope you will go in undeclared… boy do they know how to hit you while you’re down…

Ouch. I know they don’t mean it that way, but sure seems like salt in the wound.

Oh yeah, son got one right after his rejection from Montclair and written on the front of the big folder was
“Your Future Starts Now” Ouch! I have a box that I have tossed all those mailings and the folders I kept during the application and audition process. Once a school is out, the folder gets tossed. I also “trash” the school’s folder on my laptop. Now that is something I can control

@Bisouu, lemme guess Pace?

I really wish admissions offices would use some kind of filter to weed out students they’ve rejected artistically. Those packages are expensive to send out and they cause understandable resentment.
