As the chances of any BFA acceptances loom further out of reach, my daughter has taken a very serious look at a reputable BA program and is making lemonade out of lemons (her situation, not the school). This endless waiting has provided her with a serious opportunity to really examine what she might want from her next four years. She has begun to realize that she will create a wonderful college experience even within a BA choice. She wants to ride for the equestrian team, take acting classes in NYC and experience that city as often as she can. A BA will afford her that chance. Because her tuition will be completely paid by the university, she can spend her summers abroad in acting programs there. I am proud of her thoughtfulness and willingness to see beyond the BFA and find excitement in the new adventure ahead. I have a feeling that even if a BFA option appears in the next week or so, she will still go the BA route. Our children really do have what it takes….and as their routes vary they all reach their destination. So proud…

Great post, Bisouu!

Love this, Bisouu! Trust us, this time next year she won’t remember wanting any other school than the one she chooses! And you will have recovered from all this stress as well, seeing your girl so happy!

Bisouu-your D really sounds amazing! You should be so so proud (I’m sure you are!). We are having a similar conversation as the reality of not getting into her top choices is sinking in.

Mailbox finally had something today! D accepted to Muhlenberg College for BA in Acting.

yay, dramamom804, that sounds like a great program.

It’s a No from Chapman. S was anticipating it. He really felt he bombed his Shakespeare, and didn’t pull himself back together to do a great job on the contemporary monologue. Of course I gave him the " you just never know" talk, but he was convinced that he really hadn’t given them a good reason to admit him. It was a valuable lesson in preparation and recovery. The following week he shot the DVD audition for Loyola Marymount ( which included both of the Chapman monologues), and he had his Pace/USC auditions. Got a Yes from Pace Film/TV BFA and LMU. Even if USC and NYU are a No, S has the satisfaction of learning from a bad experience. And he has two good options for school!

A word of inspiration for those of us who are obsessing about where our kids will end up next year: Wherever they end up, it will most likely be away from home, so be sure to appreciate the here and now. Enjoy listening to your kid sing all over the house. Enjoy the concerts. The starring high school roles. Etc. Even though I’ll be so happy for my son no matter where he ends up next year, it will be awfully quiet here. It’s been such a joy to watch him grow and develop all these years. Is there anything better than being a proud audience member?!

I just made my last cast dinner! I usually make a couple of crock pots of hot sandwiches for everyone one night during tech week. The kids are so cute and excited when I get there. Then they inhale the food during intermission. I get lots of hugs too! Definitely a fun dinner to make. I will miss that.

I’m right there with you dramamom0804 as son’s last HS musical opens this Thursday night. During the week leading up to the show the entire cast dresses up in different “themes”, and being a smaller High School, the show is really a main event of the school year.
itsthejourney- your CC is name is very appropriate for your above post. I first read it last night and became teary thinking about how quiet it will be next year, and what a wonderfully crazy and intense year this has been. All the preparation and ups and downs have brought my son and I even closer, a true gift. He too will be far away from home next year, but I feel confident he is ready to fly.

Off topic but …What kind of sandwiches do you feed them entertainers mom? I have 15-20 college boys staying with us this weekend(friends of one of my sons on their way to a team competition) and am trying to figure out what to serve.

Meatball sandwiches in one. Go to costco. Get big bag of italian meatballs. Throw in the crock pot with a couple jars of sauce. Heat on low 5 hours. Add roll!
Then I do buffalo chicken. Put 2 packets dry ranch dressing in crock pot. Add about 8 thawed skinless boneless chicken breasts. Add a 12 oz size jar of red hot sauce. I think I use Franks and I think it is 12 ozs. Around that size. Cook on low 7-8 hours. Take the chicken out and pull apart with forks. Put it back in the crock pot for another 20 mins or so. This last time I made it it seemed a bit more watery so you could even run the chicken through a strainer if needed. Other times I made it wasn’t watery though. Then just add roll to the chicken!
They are both very easy and good.

Hello All! I am new. I have been reading on this site every day following all your stories…victories and otherwise. I finally signed up today and decided to jump in. Seems like a welcoming group. I am not usually someone who posts but I am just about to explode waiting for these decisions and I see more and more of you getting things each day. We are still waiting on SUNY Purchase and Syracuse as our big ones that are left. I noticed someone said they heard from Purchase and got an acceptance about a week ago and someone else said Syracuse was sending out in waves. Am I getting that right? Will they be emails for rejections and acceptance or snail mail letters for rejections? I know they have all been a little different. Just wanted to jump in and say congrats to all and I feel your pain to those still waiting. This group has helped me a lot. My S is way more calm that I am!!

My D is in the same boat, waiting on SUNY. The waiting is very hard. I’ve also been following all the posts over the last few weeks, and I second how nice it’s been to hear from others going through something I never dreamed would be so hard.

Another newby. Have been “lurking” for a while. Thank you to everybody for sharing your journey so openly. We are also waiting to hear from some colleges. I am a person who enjoys this though, it is such an exciting time.

I think this week will wrap things up for most… we are still waiting to hear from three schools; CCPA, CMU, and Northwestern.
fingers and toes crossed

welcome, deamer18 and taxiparent. Best of luck to your kids.

Echoing congrats and sympathy hugs. Until recently, I’ve also been a theater forum lurker - was much more active on CC when my first son went through the admissions process. He was a “science guy” though, so a totally different ballgame. Has anyone heard anything about USC School of Dramatic Arts admissions notification? It seems that in the past, an invitation to their April Open House has been sent out in advance of “official” USC notification. I’m wondering if they’re doing that this year - and if so, when do they send the invitations? These final couple of weeks of waiting are excruciating!

Thank you for the good wishes, NJTheatreMOM!

Waiting anxiously to hear from Northeastern….
