Shipping to and picking up from 135 prospect st?!

Hello! Hubby and daughter fly out on the 25th from California. I thought it would be great to send her all the toiletries and personal supplies she’d need at first (and then it’s on her to keep herself supplied). I have a big list at Amazon. Husband says to limit that because Prospect Avenue pick up is only 10-4 on Friday and he doesn’t think he can pick it up for her (even with his ID). Does anyone know if a parent can pick up packages for the student? (We expect she’ll be busy w/ other things). Here’s why it matters; my husband HATES shopping and gets very flustered – it’s already going to be pretty emotional and I would like to avoid a stressful “moment” when he’s stuck at CVS getting occilococcinum and panty liners! Truth be told :slight_smile:

Is your husband staying in a hotel? Perhaps you could have the Amazon package sent to him there.

You can ship to the UPS store that’s near campus for $10/box fee, or if your student has a mailbox there ($18 a month) it is free to ship boxes there

Thanks guys, great suggestions! We will look into this! :slight_smile:
Excited to share these years with you wise and experienced parents :slight_smile:

@Faulkner1897
Did you just go ahead and get that UPS mailbox for your kiddo? I’m still unclear if the regular mail is reliable…I’ve heard both positive and negative…:-/

No, I investigated the option when I was figuring out whether to ship my daughter boxes. We decided to bring the stuff with us as checked bags, so I didn’t get a UPS mailbox.

As with a lot of other things, my daughter is going to wait and see how it goes. She knows the option is there if the regular Yale mail service is unreliable for packages.

Thanks @Faulkner1897 for the heads up on ala carte box pickup at the UPS store. I’m assuming that DS’s Mail at his apartment will be acceptable, but if not, $10 per box wouldn’t be too bad for some important packages.
