Okay, so I filed for financial aid for Berkeley on May 1st, due to personal reasons, and I seriously expected nothing at all.
However, I checked my Aid page and it says this:

My UC Berkeley Costs
Fees
$10,940.00
Health Insurance*
$1,522.00
Books and Supplies
$1,314.00
Living Expenses
$12,826.00
Other Expenses
$28.00
Total UC Berkeley Costs
$26,630.00
My Gift Aid $17,330.00
My Net Cost $9,300.00
Parents Share $0.00
Students Loan And Work $7,758.00
Total Resources to Meet My Net Costs $7,758.00

Total Resources to Meet My UC Berkeley Costs
$25,088.00

Did I seriously get aid? Or is this just an estimation of what I can/could've gotten?

Please answer quickly because I'm shocked at the fact that I even got aid this late!

$17,330.00 is your gift aid. The rest is loans or work-study.

Yup, I got the same thing and checked. 17,330 is what you’re getting for financial aid basically.

Thanks!

Haha, I honestly didn’t expect anything b/c I filed in my FAFSA so late.

It’s need based not first come first serve.

I never was under the assumption that it was first come first serve, I figured I was too late because of the set deadline.

Truth is, despite all the budget issues, the last thing that gets cut is financial aid in terms of loans.

Applying late means that you may be in a tough situation, but that doesn’t imply that you will be in a tough situation.

I’ve even remember someone asking a related question at CalSO to the financial aid people, and while I don’t remember the exact question, the response was that even if you submitted the FAFSA at the time of the CalSO, they still have the resources to give you the full amount in financial aid.

Speaking of financial aid, what should I do if

File Incomplete

Your file is incomplete because a required document is missing or a document you submitted is still being processed. Go to the Required Documents page for detailed information about your file.

They wanted me to submit the “family members in college form” so I did…but it’s been weeks and still no update =| my financial aid is $0 sigh…

@totalcaprice

Same thing with me, I e-mailed them today and they said “Offers for continuing students won’t be ready until the end of this week or early next week.”

Does that pertain to incoming students? Thanks though, I’ll wait another week to see if it comes…
